  1. Ps. 91:1-11, 13

    1He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

    2I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.

    3Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.

    4He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.

    5Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;

    6Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.

    7A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.

    8Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.

    9Because thou hast made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;

    10There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.

    11For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.

    ... 13Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.

  2. Num. 16:44, 45 (to 1st .), 46 (to ;), 47, 48 (to ;), 50

    44And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

    45Get you up from among this congregation, that I may consume them as in a moment.

    46And Moses said unto Aaron, Take a censer, and put fire therein from off the altar, and put on incense, and go quickly unto the congregation, and make an atonement for them: for there is wrath gone out from the Lord;

    ... 47And Aaron took as Moses commanded, and ran into the midst of the congregation; and, behold, the plague was begun among the people: and he put on incense, and made an atonement for the people.

    48And he stood between the dead and the living;

    ... 50And Aaron returned unto Moses unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation: and the plague was stayed.

  3. Luke 17:6, 11-14, 20, 21

    6And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you.

    11And it came to pass, as he went to Jerusalem, that he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee.

    12And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off:

    13And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.

    14And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed.

    20And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation:

    21Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.

  4. Acts 5:12 (to ;), 16, 17 (to 2nd ,), 17-21 2nd and (to 1st .), 22, 23, 25, 26 (to :), 27 (to :), 29, 34, 35, 38 Refrain, 39 (to ;), 40 (to :), 42

    12And by the hands of the apostles were many signs and wonders wrought among the people;

    ... 16There came also a multitude out of the cities round about unto Jerusalem, bringing sick folks, and them which were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed every one.

    17Then the high priest rose up, and all they that were with him,and were filled with indignation,

    18And laid their hands on the apostles, and put them in the common prison.

    19But the angel of the Lord by night opened the prison doors, and brought them forth, and said,

    20Go, stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life.

    21And when they heard that, they entered into the temple early in the morning, and taught.

    ... 22But when the officers came, and found them not in the prison, they returned, and told,

    23Saying, The prison truly found we shut with all safety, and the keepers standing without before the doors: but when we had opened, we found no man within.

    ... 25Then came one and told them, saying, Behold, the men whom ye put in prison are standing in the temple, and teaching the people.

    26Then went the captain with the officers, and brought them without violence:

    ... 27And when they had brought them, they set them before the council:

    29Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.

    34Then stood there up one in the council, a Pharisee, named Gamaliel, a doctor of the law, had in reputation among all the people, and commanded to put the apostles forth a little space;

    35And said unto them, Ye men of Israel, take heed to yourselves what ye intend to do as touching these men.

    ... Refrain from these men, and let them alone: for if this counsel or this work be of men, it will come to nought:

    39But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it;

    ... 40And to him they agreed:

    42And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.

Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures
by Mary Baker Eddy

  1. SH 369:5-7, 14

        In proportion as matter loses to human sense all en-6tity as man, in that proportion does man become its Man’s entitymaster.

        We never read that Luke or Paul made a reality of 15disease in order to discover some means of healing it. The Christ treatmentJesus never asked if disease were acute or chronic, and he never recommended atten-18tion to laws of health, never gave drugs, never prayed to know if God were willing that a man should live. He understood man, whose Life is God, to be immortal, and 21knew that man has not two lives, one to be destroyed and the other to be made indestructible.

  2. SH 162:5-7, 9, 16-22, 25

    Christian Science 6Truth an alterativeacts as an alterative, neutralizing error with Truth. ... The effect of this Science is to stir the human mind to a change of base, on which it may yield to the harmony of the divine Mind.

    Working out the rules of Science in practice, the author has re-18stored health in cases of both acute and chronic disease in their severest forms. Secretions have been changed, the structure has been renewed, shortened limbs have been 21elongated, ankylosed joints have been made supple, and carious bones have been restored to healthy conditions. ... Christian Science heals organic disease as surely as it heals what is called functional, for it requires 27only a fuller understanding of the divine Principle of Christian Science to demonstrate the higher rule.

  3. SH 176:24-25, 27

    One disease is no more real than another. ... The human mind, not matter, is supposed to feel, suffer, en-joy. Hence decided types of acute disease are quite as 30ready to yield to Truth as the less distinct type and chronic form of disease. Truth handles the most malignant con-tagion with perfect assurance.

  4. SH 393:16-21, 29-30, 32

        Be firm in your understanding that the divine Mind governs, and that in Science man reflects God’s govern-18No pain in matterment. Have no fear that matter can ache, swell, and be inflamed as the result of a law of any kind, when it is self-evident that matter can have 21no pain nor inflammation.

        Man is never sick, for Mind is not sick and matter 30No real diseasecannot be. ... It is well to be calm in sickness; 394 394:1to be hopeful is still better; but to understand that sick-ness is not real and that Truth can destroy its seeming 3reality, is best of all, for this understanding is the uni-versal and perfect remedy.

  5. SH 392:24 Stand (only), 27-32

    Stand porter at the door of thought. ... When the condition is present which you say induces disease, whether it be air, exercise, heredity, contagion, or accident, then perform your office 30as porter and shut out these unhealthy thoughts and fears. Exclude from mortal mind the offending errors; then the body cannot suffer from them.

  6. SH 419:12-14, 20-22, 31-4

    Disease has no intelligence with which to move itself about or to change itself from one form to another.

        Mind produces all action. If the action proceeds from 21Truth, from immortal Mind, there is harmony; but mor-Conquer beliefs and fearstal mind is liable to any phase of belief.

        If it is found necessary to treat against relapse, know that disease or its symptoms cannot change forms, nor 420 420:1go from one part to another, for Truth destroys disease. There is no metastasis, no stoppage of harmonious 3True government of manaction, no paralysis. Truth not error, Love not hate, Spirit not matter, governs man.

  7. SH 285:1-3, 15-17 Spirit

    Matter is not sentient and cannot be cognizant of good or of evil, of pleasure or of pain. Man’s individu -3ality is not material.

    Spirit is not physical. The belief that a material body is man is a false con -Material misconceptionsception of man.

  8. SH 412:23-24

    Mentally insist that harmony is the fact, and 24that sickness is a temporal dream.

  9. SH 279:16-19

        In proportion as the belief disappears that life and in-telligence are in or of matter, the immortal facts of 18being are seen, and their only idea or intelligence is in God.

  10. SH 368:2-4, 5, 14

    The 3Real and counterfeitconfidence inspired by Science lies in the fact that Truth is real and error is unreal. ... Divine Science insists that 6time will prove all this. Both truth and error have come nearer than ever before to the apprehension of mortals, and truth will become still clearer as error is self-9destroyed.

    When we 15come to have more faith in the truth of being than we have in error, more faith in Spirit than in matter, more faith in living than in dying, more faith in God than in man, 18then no material suppositions can prevent us from healing the sick and destroying error.

  11. SH 151:21-24, 26-28

    The human mind has no power to kill or to cure, and it has no con-trol over God’s man. The divine Mind that made man 24maintains His own image and likeness. ... All that really exists is the divine Mind and 27its idea, and in this Mind the entire being is found har-monious and eternal.

  12. SH 258:13-16, 21-30

        God expresses in man the infinite idea forever develop-ing itself, broadening and rising higher and higher from 15a boundless basis. Mind manifests all that exists in the infinitude of Truth.

    The human capacities are enlarged and perfected in propor-tion as humanity gains the true conception of man and 24God.

        Mortals have a very imperfect sense of the spiritual man and of the infinite range of his thought. To him 27Individual permanencybelongs eternal Life. Never born and never dying, it were impossible for man, under the government of God in eternal Science, to fall from his 30high estate.

  13. SH 379:6

    The real jurisdiction of the world is in Mind, controlling every effect and recognizing all causation as vested in divine Mind.
