Jesus taught but one God, one Spirit, who makes man in the image and likeness of Himself, — of Spirit, not of 3Scientific manmatter. Man reflects infinite Truth, Life, and Love. The nature of man, thus understood, includes all that is implied by the terms “image” and 6“likeness” as used in Scripture.

In divine Science, man is the true image of God. The divine nature was best expressed in Christ Jesus, who threw upon mortals the truer reflection of God and lifted 9their lives higher than their poor thought-models would allow, — thoughts which presented man as fallen, sick, sinning, and dying. The Christlike understanding of 12scientific being and divine healing includes a perfect Prin-ciple and idea, — perfect God and perfect man, — as the basis of thought and demonstration.

Truth never destroys God’s idea. Truth is spiritual, eternal substance, which cannot destroy the right reflec-tion. Corporeal sense, or error, may seem to hide Truth, 27health, harmony, and Science, as the mist obscures the sun or the mountain; but Science, the sunshine of Truth, will melt away the shadow and reveal the celestial 30peaks.

Soul and matter are at variance from the very necessity of their opposite natures. Mortals are 9unacquainted with the reality of existence, because matter and mortality do not reflect the facts of Spirit.
Spiritual vision is not subordinate to geometric alti-12tudes. Whatever is governed by God, is never for an instant deprived of the light and might of intelligence and Life.

Finite sense has no true apprecia-tion of infinite Principle, God, or of His infi-nite image or reflection, man.
So far as the scientific statement as to man is under-stood, it can be proved and will bring to light the true reflection of God — the real man, or the new man (as 12St. Paul has it).
The universe reflects and expresses the di-vine substance or Mind; therefore God is seen only in the 30spiritual universe and spiritual man, as the sun is seen in the ray of light which goes out from it. God is re-vealed only in that which reflects Life, Truth, Love, — 301 301:1yea, which manifests God’s attributes and power, even as the human likeness thrown upon the mirror, repeats 3the color, form, and action of the person in front of the mirror.

Spiritual man is the image or idea of God, an idea which cannot be lost nor sep-30arated from its divine Principle. When the evidence before the material senses yielded to spiritual sense, the apostle declared that nothing could alienate him from 304 304:1God, from the sweet sense and presence of Life and Truth.
3 It is ignorance and false belief, based on a material sense of things, which hide spiritual beauty and good-Man inseparable from Loveness. Understanding this, Paul said: “Nei-6ther death, nor life, . . . nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from 9the love of God.” This is the doctrine of Christian Science: that divine Love cannot be deprived of its manifestation, or object; that joy cannot be turned into 12sorrow, for sorrow is not the master of joy; that good can never produce evil; that matter can never produce mind nor life result in death. The perfect man — governed 15by God, his perfect Principle — is sinless and eternal.

Reasoning from cause to effect in the Science of Mind, 30Sinlessness of Mind, Soulwe begin with Mind, which must be under-stood through the idea which expresses it and cannot be learned from its opposite, matter. As the reflection of yourself appears in 3the mirror, so you, being spiritual, are the reflection of God. The substance, Life, intelligence, Truth, and Love, which constitute Deity, are reflected by His creation; 6and when we subordinate the false testimony of the corporeal senses to the facts of Science, we shall see this true likeness and reflection everywhere.
