  1. I John 4:18 (to :)

18There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear:

  2. Ex. 3:14

14And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.

  3. Ex. 4:1-4, 10-12

1And Moses answered and said, But, behold, they will not believe me, nor hearken unto my voice: for they will say, The Lord hath not appeared unto thee.

2And the Lord said unto him, What is that in thine hand? And he said, A rod.

3And he said, Cast it on the ground. And he cast it on the ground, and it became a serpent; and Moses fled from before it.

4And the Lord said unto Moses, Put forth thine hand, and take it by the tail. And he put forth his hand, and caught it, and it became a rod in his hand:

10And Moses said unto the Lord, O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither heretofore, nor since thou hast spoken unto thy servant: but I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue.

11And the Lord said unto him, Who hath made man’s mouth? or who maketh the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? have not I the Lord?

12Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say.

  4. Job 4:13-15, 16-18 and, 20 (to :)

13In thoughts from the visions of the night, when deep sleep falleth on men,

14Fear came upon me, and trembling, which made all my bones to shake.

15Then a spirit passed before my face; the hair of my flesh stood up:

    ... and I heard a voice, saying,

17Shall mortal man be more just than God? shall a man be more pure than his maker?

18Behold, he put no trust in his servants; and his angels he charged with folly:

... 20They are destroyed from morning to evening:

  5. Job 11:7, 15 then, 17 thine, 18 thou, 19 thou (to ;)

7Canst thou by searching find out God? canst thou find out the Almighty unto perfection?

... then shalt thou lift up thy face without spot; yea, thou shalt be stedfast, and shalt not fear:

... thine age shall be clearer than the noonday; thou shalt shine forth, thou shalt be as the morning.

... thou shalt be secure, because there is hope; yea, thou shalt dig about thee, and thou shalt take thy rest in safety.

    ... thou shalt lie down, and none shall make thee afraid;

  6. Isa. 44:2 Fear, 3, 8 (to 1st .), 23 break (to 3rd :), 24 I

Fear not, O Jacob, my servant; and thou, Jesurun, whom I have chosen.

3For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour my spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine offspring:

... 8Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? ye are even my witnesses.

break forth into singing, ye mountains, O forest, and every tree therein:

    ... I am the Lord that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself;

  7. Mark 3:7 Jesus (to :)

Jesus withdrew himself with his disciples to the sea:

  8. Mark 4:35-40 (to 1st ?), 41

35And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side.

36And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships.

37And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full.

38And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?

39And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.

40And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful?

... 41And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?

  9. Mark 6:53-56

53And when they had passed over, they came into the land of Gennesaret, and drew to the shore.

54And when they were come out of the ship, straightway they knew him,

55And ran through that whole region round about, and began to carry about in beds those that were sick, where they heard he was.

56And whithersoever he entered, into villages, or cities, or country, they laid the sick in the streets, and besought him that they might touch if it were but the border of his garment: and as many as touched him were made whole.

  10. Ps. 139:1, 2 (to ,), 5, 7-12, 14 (to :)

1O Lord, thou hast searched me, and known me.

2Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising,

... 5Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me.

... 7Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?

8If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.

    9If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;

10Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.

11If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me.

12Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee.

... 14I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made:

Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures
by Mary Baker Eddy

  1. SH 410:14

Every trial of our faith in God makes us stronger. 15The more difficult seems the material condition to be Love casteth out fearovercome by Spirit, the stronger should be our faith and the purer our love. The Apostle 18John says: “There is no fear in Love, but perfect Love casteth out fear. . . . He that feareth is not made per-fect in Love.” Here is a definite and inspired proclama-21tion of Christian Science.

  2. SH 454:5-9, 11

The understanding, 6Impotence of hateeven in a degree, of the divine All-power de-stroys fear, and plants the feet in the true path, — the path which leads to the house built without hands 9“eternal in the heavens.” ... That evil or matter has neither intelligence nor power, 12is the doctrine of absolute Christian Science, and this is the great truth which strips all disguise from error.

  3. SH 321:6, 29

The Hebrew Lawgiver, slow of speech, despaired of making the people understand what should be revealed Fear of the serpent overcometo him. When, led by wisdom to cast down his 9rod, he saw it become a serpent, Moses fled be-fore it; but wisdom bade him come back and handle the serpent, and then Moses’ fear departed. In 12this incident was seen the actuality of Science. Matter was shown to be a belief only. The serpent, evil, under wisdom’s bidding, was destroyed through understanding 15divine Science, and this proof was a staff upon which to lean. The illusion of Moses lost its power to alarm him, when he discovered that what he apparently saw was really 18but a phase of mortal belief.

And so it was in the coming 30centuries, when the Science of being was demonstrated by Jesus, who showed his students the power of Mind by changing water into wine, and taught them how to handle 322 322:1serpents unharmed, to heal the sick and cast out evils in proof of the supremacy of Mind.

  4. SH 373:14

The fear of disease and the love of sin are the sources 15Love frees from fearof man’s enslavement. “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom,” but the Scriptures also declare, through the exalted thought of John, that 18“perfect Love casteth out fear.”

  5. SH 392:27-32

When the condition is present which you say induces disease, whether it be air, exercise, heredity, contagion, or accident, then perform your office 30as porter and shut out these unhealthy thoughts and fears. Exclude from mortal mind the offending errors; then the body cannot suffer from them.

  6. SH 411:27-5

Always begin your treatment by allaying the fear of patients. Silently reassure them as to their exemp-Unspoken pleadingtion from disease and danger. Watch the re-30sult of this simple rule of Christian Science, and you will find that it alleviates the symptoms of every disease. If you succeed in wholly removing the fear, 412 412:1your patient is healed. The great fact that God lovingly governs all, never punishing aught but sin, is your stand-3point, from which to advance and destroy the human fear of sickness. Mentally and silently plead the case scien-tifically for Truth.

  7. SH 412:23

Mentally insist that harmony is the fact, and 24that sickness is a temporal dream. Realize the presence of health and the fact of harmonious being, until the body corresponds with the normal conditions of health 27and harmony.

  8. SH 377:26

The cause of all so-called disease is mental, a mortal 27fear, a mistaken belief or conviction of the necessity and power of ill-health; also a fear that Mind is helpless to defend the life of man and incompetent to control it. With-30out this ignorant human belief, any circumstance is of it-self powerless to produce suffering. It is latent belief in disease, as well as the fear of disease, which associates sick-378378:1ness with certain circumstances and causes the two to appear conjoined, even as poetry and music are repro-3duced in union by human memory. Disease has no in-telligence. Unwittingly you sentence yourself to suffer. The understanding of this will enable you to commute this 6self-sentence, and meet every circumstance with truth. Disease is less than mind, and Mind can control it.

  9. SH 393:16-21, 30-32

Be firm in your understanding that the divine Mind governs, and that in Science man reflects God’s govern-18No pain in matterment. Have no fear that matter can ache, swell, and be inflamed as the result of a law of any kind, when it is self-evident that matter can have 21no pain nor inflammation.

A false belief is both the tempter and the tempted, the sin and the sinner, the disease and its cause.

  10. SH 298:13-22

Spiritual sense, contradicting the material senses, in-volves intuition, hope, faith, understanding, fruition, real-15ity. Material sense expresses the belief that mind is in matter. This human belief, alternating between a sense of pleasure and pain, hope and fear, life and death, never 18reaches beyond the boundary of the mortal or the unreal. When the real is attained, which is announced by Science, joy is no longer a trembler, nor is hope a cheat. Spirit-21ual ideas, like numbers and notes, start from Principle, and admit no materialistic beliefs.

  11. SH 563:4-7 (to ?)

We may well be perplexed at human fear; and still more astounded at hatred, which lifts 6its hydra head, showing its horns in the many inventions of evil. But why should we stand aghast at nothingness?

  12. SH 495:16

Let neither fear nor doubt overshadow your clear sense and 18calm trust, that the recognition of life harmonious — as Life eternally is — can destroy any painful sense of, or belief in, that which Life is not. Let Christian Science, 21instead of corporeal sense, support your understanding of being, and this understanding will supplant error with Truth, replace mortality with immortality, and silence dis-24cord with harmony.
