2And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord;
... and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:
... righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins.
6The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them.

2And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for the law shall go forth of Zion, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.

2And Jesus answering said unto them,
A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came and sought fruit thereon, and found none.
7Then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why cumbereth it the ground?
8And he answering said unto him, Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig about it, and dung it:
9And if it bear fruit, well: and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down.
- Luke 14:1-5

2And, behold, there was a certain man before him which had the dropsy.
3And Jesus answering spake unto the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath day?

7He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.
Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures
- SH 295:5
God creates and governs the universe, including man. 6The universe is filled with spiritual ideas, which He Mortals unlike immortals evolves, and they are obedient to the Mind that makes them. Mortal mind would trans -9form the spiritual into the material, and then recover man’s original self in order to escape from the mortality of this error. Mortals are not like immortals, 12created in God’s own image; but infinite Spirit being all, mortal consciousness will at last yield to the scientific fact and disappear, and the real sense of being, perfect and 15forever intact, will appear.
- SH 393:16-18
- SH 224:8, 17, 31
There should 9be painless progress, attended by life and peace instead of discord and death.
The modern lash is less 18material than the Roman scourge, but it is equally as cutting. Cold disdain, stubborn resistance, opposition from church, state laws, and the press, are still the har-21bingers of truth’s full-orbed appearing.
No power can withstand divine Love. What is this supposed power, which opposes itself to God? 225 225:1Whence cometh it? What is it that binds man with iron shackles to sin, sickness, and death? Whatever enslaves 3man is opposed to the divine government. Truth makes man free.
- SH 258:25
- SH 264:32-15
The universe of Spirit is peopled with spiritual beings, 265 265:1and its government is divine Science. Man is the off-spring, not of the lowest, but of the highest qualities of 3Godward gravitationMind. Man understands spiritual existence in proportion as his treasures of Truth and Love are enlarged. Mortals must gravitate Godward, 6their affections and aims grow spiritual, — they must near the broader interpretations of being, and gain some proper sense of the infinite, — in order that sin and mortality 9may be put off.
This scientific sense of being, forsaking matter for Spirit, by no means suggests man’s absorption into Deity 12 and the loss of his identity, but confers upon man en-larged individuality, a wider sphere of thought and action, a more expansive love, a higher and more permanent 15peace.
- SH 539:8-20
What can be the standard of good, of Spirit, of Life, 9or of Truth, if they produce their opposites, such as evil, Only one standardmatter, error, and death? God could never impart an element of evil, and man possesses 12nothing which he has not derived from God. How then has man a basis for wrong-doing? Whence does he obtain the propensity or power to do evil? Has Spirit 15 resigned to matter the government of the universe?
The Scriptures declare that God condemned this lie as to man’s origin and character by condemning its symbol, 18A type of falsehoodthe serpent, to grovel beneath all the beasts of the field. It is false to say that Truth and error commingle in creation.

What is termed disease does not exist. It is neither mind nor matter. The belief of sin, which has grown Embryonic sinful thoughtsterrible in strength and influence, is an uncon-6scious error in the beginning, — an embryonic thought without motive; but afterwards it governs the so-called man. Passion, depraved appetites, 9dishonesty, envy, hatred, revenge ripen into action, only to pass from shame and woe to their final punishment.
- SH 412:1
The great fact that God lovingly governs all, never punishing aught but sin, is your stand-3point, from which to advance and destroy the human fear of sickness. Mentally and silently plead the case scien-tifically for Truth. You may vary the arguments to meet 6the peculiar or general symptoms of the case you treat, but be thoroughly persuaded in your own mind concern-ing the truth which you think or speak, and you will be 9the victor.
- SH 209:5
- SH 507:15-18, 21-25
The universe of Spirit reflects the creative power of the divine Principle, or Life, which reproduces the multi-Divine propagationtudinous forms of Mind and governs the mul-18tiplication of the compound idea man. ... A material world implies a mortal mind and man a creator. The scientific divine creation declares immortal Mind and the universe created by God.
24 Infinite Mind creates and governs all, from the men-tal molecule to infinity.
- SH 125:12-17
As human thought changes from one stage to an-other of conscious pain and painlessness, sorrow and joy, — from fear to hope and from faith to understand-15ing, — the visible manifestation will at last be man gov-erned by Soul, not by material sense. Reflecting God’s government, man is self-governed.
