The Bible
  1. Ps. 121:8

8The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.

  2. Isa. 40:10 (to :), 25, 26, 29, 31

10Behold, the Lord God will come with strong hand, and his arm shall rule for him:

25To whom then will ye liken me, or shall I be equal? saith the Holy One.

26Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things, that bringeth out their host by number: he calleth them all by names by the greatness of his might, for that he is strong in power; not one faileth.

29He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.

... 31But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

  3. Josh. 3:7, 8 When, 14, 15, 17

7And the Lord said unto Joshua, This day will I begin to magnify thee in the sight of all Israel, that they may know that, as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee.

... When ye are come to the brink of the water of Jordan, ye shall stand still in Jordan.

    14And it came to pass, when the people removed from their tents, to pass over Jordan, and the priests bearing the ark of the covenant before the people;

15And as they that bare the ark were come unto Jordan, and the feet of the priests that bare the ark were dipped in the brim of the water, (for Jordan overfloweth all his banks all the time of harvest,)

... 17And the priests that bare the ark of the covenant of the Lord stood firm on dry ground in the midst of Jordan, and all the Israelites passed over on dry ground, until all the people were passed clean over Jordan.

  4. Josh. 10:6-9, 11 3rd and, 12, 13 So, 15

6And the men of Gibeon sent unto Joshua to the camp to Gilgal, saying, Slack not thy hand from thy servants; come up to us quickly, and save us, and help us: for all the kings of the Amorites that dwell in the mountains are gathered together against us.

7So Joshua ascended from Gilgal, he, and all the people of war with him, and all the mighty men of valour.

8And the Lord said unto Joshua, Fear them not: for I have delivered them into thine hand; there shall not a man of them stand before thee.

9Joshua therefore came unto them suddenly, and went up from Gilgal all night.

and they died: they were more which died with hailstones than they whom the children of Israel slew with the sword.

12Then spake Joshua to the Lord in the day when the Lord delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon.

So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day.

15And Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, unto the camp to Gilgal.

  5. Matt. 9:1-4, 6-8, 26

1And he entered into a ship, and passed over, and came into his own city.

2And, behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee.

3And, behold, certain of the scribes said within themselves, This man blasphemeth.

4And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, Wherefore think ye evil in your hearts?

... 6But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (then saith he to the sick of the palsy,) Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house.

7And he arose, and departed to his house.

8But when the multitudes saw it, they marvelled, and glorified God, which had given such power unto men.

26And the fame hereof went abroad into all that land.

  6. John 4:23 the, 24

the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.

24God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

  7. John 14:5, 6, 12, 16, 17

5Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?

6Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

... 12Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

    16And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

17Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

  8. Eph. 5:9 the

the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)

  9. Ps. 46:4, 5, 10 (to :)

4There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High.

5God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early.

... 10Be still, and know that I am God:

Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures
by Mary Baker Eddy

  1. SH vii:27-15

Since the author’s discovery of the might of Truth in viii viii:1the treatment of disease as well as of sin, her system has been fully tested and has not been found wanting; but 3to reach the heights of Christian Science, man must live in obedience to its divine Principle. To develop the full might of this Science, the discords of corporeal sense 6must yield to the harmony of spiritual sense, even as the science of music corrects false tones and gives sweet con-cord to sound.

9    Theology and physics teach that both Spirit and matter are real and good, whereas the fact is that Spirit is good and real, and matter is Spirit’s oppo-12site. The question, What is Truth, is answered by demonstration, — by healing both disease and sin; and this demonstration shows that Christian healing con-15fers the most health and makes the best men.

  2. SH 454:4-9, 11

Teach your students the omnipotence of Truth, which illustrates the impotence of error. The understanding, 6Impotence of hateeven in a degree, of the divine All-power de-stroys fear, and plants the feet in the true path, — the path which leads to the house built without hands 9“eternal in the heavens.” ... That evil or matter has neither intelligence nor power, 12is the doctrine of absolute Christian Science, and this is the great truth which strips all disguise from error.

  3. SH 393:16-21, 29

Be firm in your understanding that the divine Mind governs, and that in Science man reflects God’s govern-18No pain in matterment. Have no fear that matter can ache, swell, and be inflamed as the result of a law of any kind, when it is self-evident that matter can have 21no pain nor inflammation.

Man is never sick, for Mind is not sick and matter 30No real diseasecannot be. A false belief is both the tempter and the tempted, the sin and the sinner, the disease and its cause. It is well to be calm in sickness; 394 394:1to be hopeful is still better; but to understand that sick-ness is not real and that Truth can destroy its seeming 3reality, is best of all, for this understanding is the uni-versal and perfect remedy.

  4. SH 31:4 (only), 10-13, 14-17, 25-28

Jesus acknowledged no ties of the flesh. ... He recognized Spirit, God, as the only creator, and therefore as the Father of all.

12    First in the list of Christian duties, he taught his fol-lowers the healing power of Truth and Love. It is the 15living Christ, the practical Truth, which makes Jesus “the resurrection and the life” to all who follow him in deed.

Referring to the materiality of the age, Jesus said: “The hour cometh, and now is, when the true wor-27Painful prospectshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth.”

  5. SH 111:11-14

The Principle of divine metaphysics 12is God; the practice of divine metaphysics is the utiliza-tion of the power of Truth over error; its rules demon-strate its Science.

  6. SH 146:26

This healing power of Truth 27 must have been far anterior to the period in which Jesus lived. It is as ancient as “the Ancient of days.” It lives through all Life, and extends throughout 30all space.

  7. SH 380:15

The physical effects of fear illustrate its illusion. Gaz-ing at a chained lion, crouched for a spring, should not Benefits of metaphysicsterrify a man. The body is affected only with 18the belief of disease produced by a so-called mind ignorant of the truth which chains disease. Noth-ing but the power of Truth can prevent the fear of 21error, and prove man’s dominion over error.

  8. SH 412:13-27

The power of Christian Science and divine Love is omnipotent. It is indeed adequate to un-15clasp the hold and to destroy disease, sin, and death.

To prevent disease or to cure it, the power of Truth, of divine Spirit, must break the dream of the material 18Insistence requisitesenses. To heal by argument, find the type of the ailment, get its name, and array your mental plea against the physical. Argue at first men-21tally, not audibly, that the patient has no disease, and conform the argument so as to destroy the evidence of disease. Mentally insist that harmony is the fact, and 24that sickness is a temporal dream. Realize the presence of health and the fact of harmonious being, until the body corresponds with the normal conditions of health 27and harmony.

  9. SH 223:14 (only), 20, 28-31

The question, “What is Truth,” convulses the world.

The efforts of error to answer this question by some 21ology are vain. Spiritual rationality and free thought ac-company approaching Science, and cannot be put down. They will emancipate humanity, and supplant unscientific 24means and so-called laws.

Marvels, calamities, and sin will much more abound as truth urges upon mortals its resisted 30claims; but the awful daring of sin destroys sin, and foreshadows the triumph of truth.

  10. SH 496:9-13, 15

We all must learn that Life is God. Ask yourself: Am I living the life that approaches the supreme good? Condition of progressAm I demonstrating the healing power of 12Truth and Love? If so, then the way will grow brighter “unto the perfect day.” ... Hold perpetually this thought, — that it is the spiritual idea, the Holy Ghost and Christ, which enables you to demonstrate, with scientific certainty, the rule of healing, 18based upon its divine Principle, Love, underlying, over-lying, and encompassing all true being.

  11. SH 559:10-16

The inaudible voice of Truth is, to the human mind, “as when a lion roareth.” 12It is heard in the desert and in dark places of fear. It arouses the “seven thunders” of evil, and stirs their latent forces to utter the full diapason of secret tones. Then is 15the power of Truth demonstrated, — made manifest in the destruction of error.
