The Bible
  1. I Chron. 16:1 (to :), 7 (to psalm), 8, 14, 26, 30-32, 34

1So they brought the ark of God, and set it in the midst of the tent that David had pitched for it:

7Then on that day David delivered first this psalm

... 8Give thanks unto the Lord, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the people.

... 14He is the Lord our God; his judgments are in all the earth.

... 26For all the gods of the people are idols: but the Lord made the heavens.

... 30Fear before him, all the earth: the world also shall be stable, that it be not moved.

31Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice: and let men say among the nations, The Lord reigneth.

32Let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof: let the fields rejoice, and all that is therein.

... 34O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever.

  2. I Tim. 2:1-4, 8

    1I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;

2For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

    3For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;

4Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

... 8I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.

  3. II Chron. 32:1-3 Sennacherib, 5-8, 10, 13 (to 1st ?), 15 (to 2nd :), 16, 20, 21 (to 2nd .), 22, 24 (to :), 25, 26, 30 2nd And

Sennacherib king of Assyria came, and entered into Judah, and encamped against the fenced cities, and thought to win them for himself.

2And when Hezekiah saw that Sennacherib was come, and that he was purposed to fight against Jerusalem,

3He took counsel with his princes and his mighty men to stop the waters of the fountains which were without the city: and they did help him.

... 5Also he strengthened himself, and built up all the wall that was broken, and raised it up to the towers, and another wall without, and repaired Millo in the city of David, and made darts and shields in abundance.

6And he set captains of war over the people, and gathered them together to him in the street of the gate of the city, and spake comfortably to them, saying,

7Be strong and courageous, be not afraid nor dismayed for the king of Assyria, nor for all the multitude that is with him: for there be more with us than with him:

8With him is an arm of flesh; but with us is the Lord our God to help us, and to fight our battles. And the people rested themselves upon the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.

10Thus saith Sennacherib king of Assyria, Whereon do ye trust, that ye abide in the siege in Jerusalem?

... 13Know ye not what I and my fathers have done unto all the people of other lands?

... 15Now therefore let not Hezekiah deceive you, nor persuade you on this manner, neither yet believe him: for no god of any nation or kingdom was able to deliver his people out of mine hand, and out of the hand of my fathers:

... 16And his servants spake yet more against the Lord God, and against his servant Hezekiah.

... 20And for this cause Hezekiah the king, and the prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz, prayed and cried to heaven.

21And the Lord sent an angel, which cut off all the mighty men of valour, and the leaders and captains in the camp of the king of Assyria. So he returned with shame of face to his own land.

22Thus the Lord saved Hezekiah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem from the hand of Sennacherib the king of Assyria, and from the hand of all other, and guided them on every side.

24In those days Hezekiah was sick to the death, and prayed unto the Lord:

... 25But Hezekiah rendered not again according to the benefit done unto him; for his heart was lifted up: therefore there was wrath upon him, and upon Judah and Jerusalem.

26Notwithstanding Hezekiah humbled himself for the pride of his heart, both he and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that the wrath of the Lord came not upon them in the days of Hezekiah.

And Hezekiah prospered in all his works.

  4. Matt. 15:29, 30

29And Jesus departed from thence, and came nigh unto the sea of Galilee; and went up into a mountain, and sat down there.

30And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus’ feet; and he healed them:

  5. Luke 6:12

12And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.

  6. John 14:12 I

I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

  7. Phil. 4:6 in, 9, 13, 19 my, 20 (to 1st .)

in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

... 9Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

... 13I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

... my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

20Now unto God and our Father be glory for ever and ever.

Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures
by Mary Baker Eddy

  1. SH 1:1-4, 6

The prayer that reforms the sinner and heals the sick is an absolute faith that all things are 3possible to God, — a spiritual understanding of Him, an unselfed love. ... Prayer, watching, and working, combined with self-im-molation, are God’s gracious means for accomplishing whatever has been successfully done for the Christian-9ization and health of mankind.

  2. SH 2:4-11, 15-16

Are we benefited by praying? Yes, the desire which goes forth hungering after righteous-6ness is blessed of our Father, and it does not return unto us void.

God is not moved by the breath of praise to do more 9than He has already done, nor can the infinite do less Deity unchangeablethan bestow all good, since He is unchang-ing wisdom and Love.

Prayer cannot change the Science of being, but it tends to bring us into harmony with it.

  3. SH 119:25-1

In viewing the sunrise, one finds that it contradicts the evidence before the senses to believe that the earth 27The sun and Soulis in motion and the sun at rest. As astron-omy reverses the human perception of the movement of the solar system, so Christian Science re-30verses the seeming relation of Soul and body and makes body tributary to Mind. Thus it is with man, who is but the humble servant of the restful Mind, though it 120 120:1seems otherwise to finite sense.

  4. SH 120:4

Soul, or Spirit, is God, unchangeable and eternal; and man coexists with and reflects Soul, God, for man is God’s 6image.

  5. SH 393:30

A false belief is both the tempter and the tempted, the sin and the sinner, the disease and its cause. It is well to be calm in sickness; 394 394:1to be hopeful is still better; but to understand that sick-ness is not real and that Truth can destroy its seeming 3reality, is best of all, for this understanding is the uni-versal and perfect remedy.

  6. SH 414:19-28

The Christian Scien-tist’s argument rests on the Christianly scientific basis of 21being. The Scripture declares, “The Lord He is God [good]; there is none else beside Him.” Even so, harmony is universal, and discord is unreal. Christian Science de-24clares that Mind is substance, also that matter neither feels, suffers, nor enjoys. Hold these points strongly in view. Keep in mind the verity of being, — that man is 27the image and likeness of God, in whom all being is painless and permanent.

  7. SH 261:2

Look away from the body into Truth and Love, 3the Principle of all happiness, harmony, and immortality. Hold thought steadfastly to the endur-ing, the good, and the true, and you will bring these 6into your experience proportionably to their occupancy of your thoughts.

  8. SH 406:1-2, 4-9

The Bible contains the recipe for all healing. “The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.” ... The tree is typical of man’s divine Principle, which is equal to every emergency, offering 6full salvation from sin, sickness, and death. Sin will submit to Christian Science when, in place of modes and forms, the power of God is understood and demonstrated 9in the healing of mortals, both mind and body.

  9. SH 330:27

Evil is nothing, no thing, mind, nor power. As manifested by mankind it stands for a lie, nothing claiming to be something, — for lust, dishonesty, 30selfishness, envy, hypocrisy, slander, hate, theft, adultery, murder, dementia, insanity, inanity, devil, hell, with all the etceteras that word includes.

  10. SH 467:9-13

It should be thoroughly understood that all men have one Mind, one God and Father, one Life, Truth, and Love. Mankind will become perfect in proportion as this fact 12becomes apparent, war will cease and the true brother-hood of man will be established.

  11. SH 380:32

Every law of matter or the body, supposed to govern 381 381:1man, is rendered null and void by the law of Life, God. Ignorant of our God-given rights, we submit to unjust 3Ignorance of our rightsdecrees, and the bias of education enforces this slavery. Be no more willing to suffer the illusion that you are sick or that some disease is develop-6ing in the system, than you are to yield to a sinful temp-tation on the ground that sin has its necessities.

  12. SH 171:4-13

Through discernment of the spiritual opposite of ma-teriality, even the way through Christ, Truth, man will 6Paradise regainedreopen with the key of divine Science the gates of Paradise which human beliefs have closed, and will find himself unfallen, upright, pure, and free, 9not needing to consult almanacs for the probabilities either of his life or of the weather, not needing to study brain-ology to learn how much of a man he is.

12    Mind’s control over the universe, including man, is no longer an open question, but is demonstrable Science.

  13. SH 480:31

As vapor melts before the sun, so evil would vanish before the reality of good. One must hide the 481 481:1other. How important, then, to choose good as the reality! Man is tributary to God, Spirit, and to nothing 3else. God’s being is infinity, freedom, harmony, and boundless bliss. “Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.” Like the archpriests of yore, man is 6free “to enter into the holiest,” — the realm of God.

  14. SH 231:30

Man, governed by his Maker, having no other Mind, — planted on the Evangelist’s statement that “all things were made by Him [the Word of God]; and without 232 232:1Him was not anything made that was made,” — can triumph over sin, sickness, and death.

  15. SH 496:15

Hold perpetually this thought, — that it is the spiritual idea, the Holy Ghost and Christ, which enables you to demonstrate, with scientific certainty, the rule of healing, 18based upon its divine Principle, Love, underlying, over-lying, and encompassing all true being.
