w260218GB Prov. 8:1-6, 8, 9, 14 (to ;)1Doth not wisdom cry? and understanding put forth her voice?
2She standeth in the top of high places, by the way in the places of the paths.
3She crieth at the gates, at the entry of the city, at the coming in at the doors.
4Unto you, O men, I call; and my voice is to the sons of man.
5O ye simple, understand wisdom: and, ye fools, be ye of an understanding heart.
6Hear; for I will speak of excellent things; and the opening of my lips shall be right things.
... 8All the words of my mouth are in righteousness; there is nothing froward or perverse in them.
9They are all plain to him that understandeth, and right to them that find knowledge.
... 14Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom: I am understanding;
- Mark 8:14-21
14¶ Now the disciples had forgotten to take bread, neither had they in the ship with them more than one loaf.
15And he charged them, saying, Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, and of the leaven of Herod.
16And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have no bread.
17And when Jesus knew it, he saith unto them, Why reason ye, because ye have no bread? perceive ye not yet, neither understand? have ye your heart yet hardened?
18Having eyes, see ye not? and having ears, hear ye not? and do ye not remember?
19When I brake the five loaves among five thousand, how many baskets full of fragments took ye up? They say unto him, Twelve.
20And when the seven among four thousand, how many baskets full of fragments took ye up? And they said, Seven.
21And he said unto them, How is it that ye do not understand?
- Job 28:1, 12, 15, 20, 21, 23, 24, 28
1Surely there is a vein for the silver, and a place for gold where they fine it.
... 12But where shall wisdom be found? and where is the place of understanding?
... 15It cannot be gotten for gold, neither shall silver be weighed for the price thereof.
... 20Whence then cometh wisdom? and where is the place of understanding?
21Seeing it is hid from the eyes of all living, and kept close from the fowls of the air.
... 23God understandeth the way thereof, and he knoweth the place thereof.
24For he looketh to the ends of the earth, and seeth under the whole heaven;
... 28And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.
- Job 34:16
16If now thou hast understanding, hear this: hearken to the voice of my words.
- Mark 7:31-37
31¶ And again, departing from the coasts of Tyre and Sidon, he came unto the sea of Galilee, through the midst of the coasts of Decapolis.
32And they bring unto him one that was deaf, and had an impediment in his speech; and they beseech him to put his hand upon him.
33And he took him aside from the multitude, and put his fingers into his ears, and he spit, and touched his tongue;
34And looking up to heaven, he sighed, and saith unto him, Ephphatha, that is, Be opened.
35And straightway his ears were opened, and the string of his tongue was loosed, and he spake plain.
36And he charged them that they should tell no man: but the more he charged them, so much the more a great deal they published it;
37And were beyond measure astonished, saying, He hath done all things well: he maketh both the deaf to hear, and the dumb to speak.
- Matt. 12:14 the, 15, 22-25, 28, 29 how
the Pharisees went out, and held a council against him, how they might destroy him.
15But when Jesus knew it, he withdrew himself from thence: and great multitudes followed him, and he healed them all;
22¶ Then was brought unto him one possessed with a devil, blind, and dumb: and he healed him, insomuch that the blind and dumb both spake and saw.
23And all the people were amazed, and said, Is not this the son of David?
24But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, This fellow doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils.
25And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand:
... 28But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you.
... how can one enter into a strong man’s house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house.
- Ps. 8:1, 3-6
1O Lord our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy glory above the heavens.
... 3When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;
4What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?
5For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.
6Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:
- Ps. 36:5, 7 the, 9
5Thy mercy, O Lord, is in the heavens; and thy faithfulness reacheth unto the clouds.
... the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings.
... 9For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light.

Knowing that Soul and its attributes were forever 12manifested through man, the Master healed the sick, gave sight to the blind, hearing to the deaf, feet to the lame, thus bringing to light the scientific action of the 15divine Mind on human minds and bodies and giving a better understanding of Soul and salvation.
What is termed matter, being unintelligent, cannot say, “I suffer, I die, I am sick, or I am well.” It is the so-27Matter mindlesscalled mortal mind which voices this and ap-pears to itself to make good its claim. ... Because immortal sense has no error of sense, it has no sense of error; there-fore it is without a destructive element.
- SH 487:6
There is more Christianity in seeing and hearing spiritually than materially. There is more Science in the perpetual 9exercise of the Mind-faculties than in their loss. Lost they cannot be, while Mind remains. The apprehension of this gave sight to the blind and hearing to the deaf cen-12turies ago, and it will repeat the wonder.

The recuperative action of the 15system, when mentally sustained by Truth, goes on naturally. ... Expose and denounce the claims of 21evil and disease in all their forms, but realize no reality in them. ... The sick are not healed merely by declaring there is no sickness, but by knowing that there is none.
- SH 259:32-8
Deducing one’s conclusions as to man from imperfec-260260:1tion instead of perfection, one can no more arrive at the true conception or understanding of man, and make him-3self like it, than the sculptor can perfect his outlines from an imperfect model, or the painter can depict the form and face of Jesus, while holding in thought the character 6of Judas.
The conceptions of mortal, erring thought must give way to the ideal of all that is perfect and eternal.
- SH 488:16-20 Christian, 23-24, 27
Christian Science sustains with immortal proof the impossibility of any material sense, and defines 18All faculties from Mindthese so-called senses as mortal beliefs, the testimony of which cannot be true either of man or of his Maker. ... Mind alone 24possesses all faculties, perception, and comprehension. ... If it were possible for the real senses of man to be injured, Soul could reproduce them in all their perfection; but they cannot be dis-30turbed nor destroyed, since they exist in immortal Mind, not in matter.
- SH 505:16-28
Spirit imparts the understanding which uplifts con-sciousness and leads into all truth. The Psalmist saith: 18Understanding imparted“The Lord on high is mightier than the noise of many waters, yea, than the mighty waves of the sea.” Spiritual sense is the discernment of spiritual 21good. Understanding is the line of demarcation between the real and unreal. Spiritual understanding unfolds Mind, — Life, Truth, and Love, — and demonstrates the 24divine sense, giving the spiritual proof of the universe in Christian Science.
This understanding is not intellectual, is not the result 27of scholarly attainments; it is the reality of all things Original reflectedbrought to light.

Jesus beheld in Science the per-477477:1fect man, who appeared to him where sinning mortal man appears to mortals. In this perfect man the Saviour 3saw God’s own likeness, and this correct view of man healed the sick. Thus Jesus taught that the kingdom of God is intact, universal, and that man is pure and holy.
