The Bible
  1. Deut. 18:13

    13Thou shalt be perfect with the Lord thy God.

  2. I Kings 8:61

    61Let your heart therefore be perfect with the Lord our God, to walk in his statutes, and to keep his commandments, as at this day.

  3. Isa. 9:2

    2The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.

  4. Isa. 43:1, 2 (to flame), 5-7, 10, 21

    1But now thus saith the Lord that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine.

    2When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame

    ... 5Fear not: for I am with thee: I will bring thy seed from the east, and gather thee from the west;

    6I will say to the north, Give up; and to the south, Keep not back: bring my sons from far, and my daughters from the ends of the earth;

    7Even every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him.

    10Ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.

    21This people have I formed for myself; they shall shew forth my praise.

  5. Ps. 33:6, 8, 9, 11, 18-20

    6By the word of the Lord were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.

    ... 8Let all the earth fear the Lord: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him.

    9For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast.

    ... 11The counsel of the Lord standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations.

    ... 18Behold, the eye of the Lord is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy;

    19To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine.

    20Our soul waiteth for the Lord: he is our help and our shield.

  6. Ps. 46:1, 2, 4, 5, 10 (to :)

    1God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

    2Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;

    ... 4There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High.

    5God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early.

    ... 10Be still, and know that I am God:

  7. John 8:12, 31, 32

    12Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

    ... 31Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;

    32And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

  8. John 10:22-25, 30

    22And it was at Jerusalem the feast of the dedication, and it was winter.

    23And Jesus walked in the temple in Solomon’s porch.

    24Then came the Jews round about him, and said unto him, How long dost thou make us to doubt? If thou be the Christ, tell us plainly.

    25Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father’s name, they bear witness of me.

    ... 30I and my Father are one.

  9. John 11:1-4, 11 Our, 17, 32-34 when, 39 (to 1st .), 41, 43, 44

    1Now a certain man was sick, named Lazarus, of Bethany, the town of Mary and her sister Martha.

    2(It was that Mary which anointed the Lord with ointment, and wiped his feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick.)

    3Therefore his sisters sent unto him, saying, Lord, behold, he whom thou lovest is sick.

    4When Jesus heard that, he said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby.

    ... Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep.

    ... 17Then when Jesus came, he found that he had lain in the grave four days already.

    ... when Mary was come where Jesus was, and saw him, she fell down at his feet, saying unto him, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.

    33When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping which came with her, he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled,

    34And said, Where have ye laid him? They said unto him, Lord, come and see.

    ... 39Jesus said, Take ye away the stone.

    ... 41Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me.

    ... 43And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth.

    44And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go.

  10. II Cor. 5:8

    8We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.

Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures
by Mary Baker Eddy

  1. SH 336:25 God

    God, the divine Principle of man, and man in God’s likeness are inseparable, harmonious, and eternal. 27God the parent MindThe Science of being furnishes the rule of per-fection, and brings immortality to light. God and man are not the same, but in the order of divine Sci-30ence, God and man coexist and are eternal. God is the parent Mind, and man is God’s spiritual offspring.

  2. SH 477:26 (only), 29

        Man is the expression of Soul. ... Separated from man, 30who expresses Soul, Spirit would be a nonentity; man, divorced from Spirit, would lose his entity. But there is, 478 478:1there can be, no such division, for man is coexistent with God.

  3. SH 491:12

    It is only by acknowledging the supremacy of Spirit, which annuls the claims of matter, that mortals can lay off mortality and 15find the indissoluble spiritual link which establishes man forever in the divine likeness, inseparable from his creator.

  4. SH 303:25-30

        God, without the image and likeness of Himself, would be a nonentity, or Mind unexpressed. He would be 27Man’s entity spiritualwithout a witness or proof of His own na-ture. Spiritual man is the image or idea of God, an idea which cannot be lost nor sep-30arated from its divine Principle.

  5. SH 76:6-12, 22-26

        When being is understood, Life will be recognized as neither material nor finite, but as infinite, — as God, Real Life is Goduniversal good; and the belief that life, or 9mind, was ever in a finite form, or good in evil, will be destroyed. Then it will be understood that Spirit never entered matter and was therefore never 12raised from matter.

        The sinless joy, — the perfect harmony and immortality of Life, possessing unlimited divine beauty and goodness 24Immaterial pleasurewithout a single bodily pleasure or pain, — constitutes the only veritable, indestructible man, whose being is spiritual.

  6. SH 315:3

        That saying of our Master, “I and my Father are one,” separated him from the scholastic theology of the rabbis. Hebrew theology His better understanding of God was a rebuke 6to them. He knew of but one Mind and laid no claim to any other. He knew that the Ego was Mind instead of body and that matter, sin, and evil were not 9Mind; and his understanding of this divine Science brought upon him the anathemas of the age.

  7. SH 304:2-14 Truth, 16-18

    Truth.

    3    It is ignorance and false belief, based on a material sense of things, which hide spiritual beauty and good-Man inseparable from Loveness. Understanding this, Paul said: “Nei-6ther death, nor life, . . . nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from 9the love of God.” This is the doctrine of Christian Science: that divine Love cannot be deprived of its manifestation, or object; that joy cannot be turned into 12sorrow, for sorrow is not the master of joy; that good can never produce evil; that matter can never produce mind nor life result in death.

        Harmony is produced by its Principle, is controlled by it and abides with it. Divine Principle is the Life 18Harmony natural of man.

  8. SH 75:12

        Jesus said of Lazarus: “Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep.” Jesus Raising the deadrestored Lazarus by the understanding that 15Lazarus had never died, not by an admis-sion that his body had died and then lived again. Had Jesus believed that Lazarus had lived or died in his 18body, the Master would have stood on the same plane of belief as those who buried the body, and he could not have resuscitated it.

  9. SH 14:12-15

        Become conscious for a single moment that Life and intelligence are purely spiritual, — neither in nor of Spiritualized consciousnessmatter, — and the body will then utter no 15complaints.

  10. SH 70:1-9, 12-13

    Mortal existence is an enigma. Every day is a mystery. The testimony of the corporeal senses 3cannot inform us what is real and what is delusive, but the revelations of Christian Science unlock the treasures The infinite one Spiritof Truth. Whatever is false or sinful can 6never enter the atmosphere of Spirit. There is but one Spirit. Man is never God, but spiritual man, made in God’s likeness, reflects God. In this scientific 9reflection the Ego and the Father are inseparable.

        The divine Mind maintains all identities, from a blade Real and unreal identityof grass to a star, as distinct and eternal.

  11. SH 71:1-9

        Nothing is real and eternal, — nothing is Spirit, — but God and His idea. Evil has no reality. It is neither 3person, place, nor thing, but is simply a belief, an illusion of material sense.

        The identity, or idea, of all reality continues forever; 6but Spirit, or the divine Principle of all, is not in Spirit’s formations. Soul is synonymous with Spirit, God, the creative, governing, infinite Principle outside of finite form, 9which forms only reflect.

  12. SH 72:26-28

    A sinning, earthly mortal is 27not the reality of Life nor the medium through which truth passes to earth.

  13. SH 73:26-30

        It is a grave mistake to suppose that matter is any part 27of the reality of intelligent existence, or that Spirit and No mediumshipmatter, intelligence and non-intelligence, can commune together. This error Science will 30destroy.

  14. SH 333:26-27, 30

    The divine image, idea, or Christ was, is, and 27ever will be inseparable from the divine Principle, God. ... The one Spirit includes all identities.

  15. SH 554:4

    There is no such thing as mortality, nor are there properly any mortal beings, 6because being is immortal, like Deity, — or, rather, being and Deity are inseparable.

  16. SH 393:16-18

        Be firm in your understanding that the divine Mind governs, and that in Science man reflects God’s govern-18No pain in matterment.

  17. SH 476:4

    In divine Science, God and the real man are inseparable as divine Principle and idea.
