Wednesday Meeting Readings
- Rom. 8:14-16 as, 28
as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
15For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
16The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
... 28And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
- Gen. 32:9, 11 (to :)
9¶ And Jacob said, O God of my father Abraham, and God of my father Isaac, the Lord which saidst unto me, Return unto thy country, and to thy kindred, and I will deal well with thee:
... 11Deliver me, I pray thee, from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esau:
- Gen. 33:1 (to 1st .), 4, 16
1And Jacob lifted up his eyes, and looked, and, behold, Esau came, and with him four hundred men.
... 4And Esau ran to meet him, and embraced him, and fell on his neck, and kissed him: and they wept.
16¶ So Esau returned that day on his way unto Seir.
- II Chron. 17:3 the, 5 (to 1st ;), 6 (to :), 10-12 (to ;)
the Lord was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the first ways of his father David, and sought not unto Baalim;
... 5Therefore the Lord stablished the kingdom in his hand;
... 6And his heart was lifted up in the ways of the Lord:
10¶ And the fear of the Lord fell upon all the kingdoms of the lands that were round about Judah, so that they made no war against Jehoshaphat.
11Also some of the Philistines brought Jehoshaphat presents, and tribute silver; and the Arabians brought him flocks, seven thousand and seven hundred rams, and seven thousand and seven hundred he goats.
12¶ And Jehoshaphat waxed great exceedingly;
- Luke 6:27 I, 28, 31, 35 do (to :), 37, 45 (to ;)
I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you,
28Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you.
... 31And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.
... do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest:
... 37Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:
... 45A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good;
- Mark 7:32-37
32And they bring unto him one that was deaf, and had an impediment in his speech; and they beseech him to put his hand upon him.
33And he took him aside from the multitude, and put his fingers into his ears, and he spit, and touched his tongue;
34And looking up to heaven, he sighed, and saith unto him, Ephphatha, that is, Be opened.
35And straightway his ears were opened, and the string of his tongue was loosed, and he spake plain.
36And he charged them that they should tell no man: but the more he charged them, so much the more a great deal they published it;
37And were beyond measure astonished, saying, He hath done all things well: he maketh both the deaf to hear, and the dumb to speak.
- Acts 11:7-9 I, 11, 12, 15, 18, 21 (to :)
I heard a voice saying unto me, Arise, Peter; slay and eat.
8But I said, Not so, Lord: for nothing common or unclean hath at any time entered into my mouth.
9But the voice answered me again from heaven, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.
... 11And, behold, immediately there were three men already come unto the house where I was, sent from Cæsarea unto me.
12And the Spirit bade me go with them, nothing doubting. Moreover these six brethren accompanied me, and we entered into the man’s house:
... 15And as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them, as on us at the beginning.
... 18When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life.
21And the hand of the Lord was with them:
- II Cor. 8:12-15 if
if there be first a willing mind, it is accepted according to that a man hath, and not according to that he hath not.
13For I mean not that other men be eased, and ye burdened:
14But by an equality, that now at this time your abundance may be a supply for their want, that their abundance also may be a supply for your want: that there may be equality:
15As it is written, He that had gathered much had nothing over; and he that had gathered little had no lack.
- I Cor. 12:4-9 there (to 1st ;), 11 all, 13, 27 ye, 31 covet
there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.
5And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.
6And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.
7But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.
8For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;
9To another faith by the same Spirit;
... all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.
... 13For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
... ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.
... covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.

- SH 393:16-18
- SH 470:16 (only)
The children of God have but one Mind.
- SH 467:9
It should be thoroughly understood that all men have one Mind, one God and Father, one Life, Truth, and Love. Mankind will become perfect in proportion as this fact 12becomes apparent, war will cease and the true brother-hood of man will be established. Having no other gods, turning to no other but the one perfect Mind to guide 15him, man is the likeness of God, pure and eternal, hav-ing that Mind which was also in Christ.

- SH 469:30 –6
as are ancient mythology and pagan idolatry. With 470 470:1one Father, even God, the whole family of man would be brethren; and with one Mind and that God, or good, 3the brotherhood of man would consist of Love and Truth, and have unity of Principle and spiritual power which constitute divine Science. The supposed existence of 6more than one mind was the basic error of idolatry. This error assumed the loss of spiritual power, the loss of the spiritual presence of Life as infinite Truth without an 9unlikeness, and the loss of Love as ever present and universal.
- SH 276:4 –16
found a ransom.” When the divine precepts are understood, they unfold the foundation of fellowship, 6in which one mind is not at war with another, but all have one Spirit, God, one intelligent source, in accordance with the Scriptural command: “Let this Mind be in you, 9which was also in Christ Jesus.” Man and his Maker are correlated in divine Science, and real consciousness is cognizant only of the things of God.
- SH 518:13
God gives the lesser idea of Himself for a link to the greater, and in return, the higher always protects the 15Assistance in brotherhoodlower. The rich in spirit help the poor in one grand brotherhood, all having the same Principle, or Father; and blessed is that man who seeth 18his brother’s need and supplieth it, seeking his own in another’s good. Love giveth to the least spiritual idea might, immortality, and goodness, which shine through 21all as the blossom shines through the bud. All the varied expressions of God reflect health, holiness, immortality — infinite Life, Truth, and Love.
- SH 555:18 –23
and eternal. Only impotent error would seek to unite Spirit with matter, good with evil, immortality with mortality, and call this 21sham unity man, as if man were the offspring of both Mind and matter, of both Deity and humanity. Crea-tion rests on a spiritual basis. We lose our standard of 24perfection and set aside the proper conception of Deity, when we admit that the perfect is the author of aught that can become imperfect, that God bestows the power 27to sin, or that Truth confers the ability to err. Our great example, Jesus, could restore the individualized manifestation of existence, which seemed to vanish in 30death. Knowing that God was the Life of man, Jesus was able to present himself unchanged after the cruci-fixion. Truth fosters the idea of Truth, and not the be-556556:1lief in illusion or error. That which is real, is sustained by Spirit.
- SH 304:9 –21
the love of God.” This is the doctrine of Christian Science: that divine Love cannot be deprived of its manifestation, or object; that joy cannot be turned into 12sorrow, for sorrow is not the master of joy; that good can never produce evil; that matter can never produce mind nor life result in death. The perfect man — governed 15by God, his perfect Principle — is sinless and eternal.
- SH 560:11 –17
the Principle of heavenly harmony. The great 12True estimate of God’s messengermiracle, to human sense, is divine Love, and the grand necessity of existence is to gain the true idea of what constitutes the kingdom of 15heaven in man. This goal is never reached while we hate our neighbor or entertain a false estimate of any-one whom God has appointed to voice His Word. Again, 18without a correct sense of its highest visible idea, we can never understand the divine Principle. The botanist must know the genus and species of a plant in order to classify 21it correctly. As it is with things, so is it with persons.
- SH 412:13, 24
- SH 490:12
The Science of Mind needs to be understood. Until it is understood, mortals are more or less deprived of Theories helplessTruth. Human theories are helpless to make 15man harmonious or immortal, since he is so already, according to Christian Science. Our only need is to know this and reduce to practice the real man’s di-18vine Principle, Love.
- SH 180:25
- SH 517:30
Divine Love blesses its own ideas, and causes them to multiply, — to manifest His power. Man is not made 518 518:1to till the soil. His birthright is dominion, not sub-Birthright of manjection. He is lord of the belief in earth 3and heaven, — himself subordinate alone to his Maker. This is the Science of being.
- SH 239:16, 29 –30
To ascertain our progress, we must learn where our affections are placed and whom we acknowledge and 18Standpoint revealedobey as God. If divine Love is becoming nearer, dearer, and more real to us, matter is then submitting to Spirit. The objects we pursue and 21the spirit we manifest reveal our standpoint, and show what we are winning.
sources never mingle in fount or stream. The perfect 30Mind sends forth perfection, for God is Mind. Imper-fect mortal mind sends forth its own resemblances, of which the wise man said, “All is vanity.”
- SH 340:23
One infinite God, good, unifies men and nations; con-24stitutes the brotherhood of man; ends wars; fulfils the Scripture, “Love thy neighbor as thyself;” annihilates pagan and Christian idolatry, — whatever is wrong in 27social, civil, criminal, political, and religious codes; equalizes the sexes; annuls the curse on man, and leaves nothing that can sin, suffer, be punished or destroyed.
