- Deut. 6:1-3 (to 5th ,), 4-7 (to 1st ,)
1Now these are the commandments, the statutes, and the judgments, which the Lord your God commanded to teach you, that ye might do them in the land whither ye go to possess it:
2That thou mightest fear the Lord thy God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command thee, thou, and thy son, and thy son’s son, all the days of thy life; and that thy days may be prolonged.
3¶ Hear therefore, O Israel, and observe to do it; that it may be well with thee, and that ye may increase mightily, as the Lord God of thy fathers hath promised thee,
4Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord:
5And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.
6And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:
7And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children,
- Deut. 31:1, 6-8, 12, 13, 19-22, 30
1And Moses went and spake these words unto all Israel.
... 6Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.
7¶ And Moses called unto Joshua, and said unto him in the sight of all Israel, Be strong and of a good courage: for thou must go with this people unto the land which the Lord hath sworn unto their fathers to give them; and thou shalt cause them to inherit it.
8And the Lord, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.
12Gather the people together, men, and women, and children, and thy stranger that is within thy gates, that they may hear, and that they may learn, and fear the Lord your God, and observe to do all the words of this law:
13And that their children, which have not known any thing, may hear, and learn to fear the Lord your God, as long as ye live in the land whither ye go over Jordan to possess it.
19Now therefore write ye this song for you, and teach it the children of Israel: put it in their mouths, that this song may be a witness for me against the children of Israel.
20For when I shall have brought them into the land which I sware unto their fathers, that floweth with milk and honey; and they shall have eaten and filled themselves, and waxen fat; then will they turn unto other gods, and serve them, and provoke me, and break my covenant.
21And it shall come to pass, when many evils and troubles are befallen them, that this song shall testify against them as a witness; for it shall not be forgotten out of the mouths of their seed: for I know their imagination which they go about, even now, before I have brought them into the land which I sware.
22¶ Moses therefore wrote this song the same day, and taught it the children of Israel.
30And Moses spake in the ears of all the congregation of Israel the words of this song, until they were ended.
- Prov. 22:6
6Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
- Mark 1:14-22 Jesus
Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God,
15And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.
16Now as he walked by the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew his brother casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.
17And Jesus said unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men.
18And straightway they forsook their nets, and followed him.
19And when he had gone a little farther thence, he saw James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, who also were in the ship mending their nets.
20And straightway he called them: and they left their father Zebedee in the ship with the hired servants, and went after him.
21And they went into Capernaum; and straightway on the sabbath day he entered into the synagogue, and taught.
22And they were astonished at his doctrine: for he taught them as one that had authority, and not as the scribes.
- Mark 10:13-16
13¶ And they brought young children to him, that he should touch them: and his disciples rebuked those that brought them.
14But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.
15Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein.
16And he took them up in his arms, put his hands upon them, and blessed them.
- John 13:34, 35
34A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
35By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.
- Rom. 13:1, 7-10
1Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
... 7Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.
8Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.
9For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
10Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

The test of all prayer lies in the answer to these 6questions: Do we love our neighbor better because of Summit of aspirationthis asking? Do we pursue the old selfish-ness, satisfied with having prayed for some-9thing better, though we give no evidence of the sin-cerity of our requests by living consistently with our prayer? If selfishness has given place to kindness, 12we shall regard our neighbor unselfishly, and bless them that curse us; but we shall never meet this great duty simply by asking that it may be done. There is 15a cross to be taken up before we can enjoy the fruition of our hope and faith.
- SH 88:9-25
How are veritable ideas to be distinguished from il-lusions? By learning the origin of each. Ideas are Illusions not ideasemanations from the divine Mind. Thoughts, 12proceeding from the brain or from matter, are offshoots of mortal mind; they are mortal material be-liefs. Ideas are spiritual, harmonious, and eternal. Beliefs 15proceed from the so-called material senses, which at one time are supposed to be substance-matter and at another are called spirits.
18 To love one’s neighbor as one’s self, is a divine idea; but this idea can never be seen, felt, nor understood through the physical senses. Excite the organ of ven-21eration or religious faith, and the individual manifests profound adoration. Excite the opposite development, and he blasphemes. These effects, however, do not pro-24ceed from Christianity, nor are they spiritual phenomena, for both arise from mortal belief.
- SH 236:12, 23-32
A mother is the strongest educator, either for or against crime. Her thoughts form the embryo of an-A mother’s responsibilityother mortal mind, and unconsciously mould 15it, either after a model odious to herself or through divine influence, “according to the pattern showed to thee in the mount.” Hence the importance 18of Christian Science, from which we learn of the one Mind and of the availability of good as the remedy for every woe.
Parents should teach their children at the 24earliest possible period the truths of health and holiness. Children are more tractable than adults, and learn more readily to love the simple verities that will 27make them happy and good.
Jesus loved little children because of their freedom from wrong and their receptiveness of right. While 30age is halting between two opinions or battling with false beliefs, youth makes easy and rapid strides towards Truth.

Taking less “thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink”; less thought “for your body what 15ye shall put on,” will do much more for the health of the rising generation than you dream. Children should be allowed to remain children in knowledge, and should 18become men and women only through growth in the understanding of man’s higher nature.
- SH 237:15
Children should be taught the Truth-cure, Christian Science, among their first lessons, and kept from discuss-Teaching childrening or entertaining theories or thoughts about 18sickness. To prevent the experience of error and its sufferings, keep out of the minds of your children either sinful or diseased thoughts. The latter should 21be excluded on the same principle as the former. This makes Christian Science early available.
- SH 130:15-19, 20
Christian Science, properly understood, would dis-abuse the human mind of material beliefs which war Children and adultsagainst spiritual facts; and these material 18beliefs must be denied and cast out to make place for truth. ... Laboring long to shake the adult’s 21faith in matter and to inculcate a grain of faith in God, — an inkling of the ability of Spirit to make the body har-monious, — the author has often remembered our Master’s 24love for little children, and understood how truly such as they belong to the heavenly kingdom.
- SH 352:17-27
Children, like adults, ought to fear a reality which 18can harm them and which they do not understand, for at any moment they may become its helpless victims; but instead of increasing children’s fears by declaring 21ghosts to be real, merciless, and powerful, thus water-ing the very roots of childish timidity, children should be assured that their fears are groundless, that ghosts 24are not realities, but traditional beliefs, erroneous and man-made.
In short, children should be told not to believe in ghosts, 27because there are no such things.
- SH 413:7, 24
Mind regulates the condition of the stomach, bowels, and food, the temperature of children and of men, and matter 9does not. The wise or unwise views of parents and other persons on these subjects produce good or bad effects on the health of children.
Giving drugs to infants, noticing every symptom of flatulency, and constantly directing the mind to such Juvenile ailmentssigns, — that mind being laden with illusions 27about disease, health-laws, and death, — these actions convey mental images to children’s budding thoughts, and often stamp them there, making it probable 30at any time that such ills may be reproduced in the very ailments feared. A child may have worms, if you say so, or any other malady, timorously held in the beliefs con-414414:1cerning his body. Thus are laid the foundations of the belief in disease and death, and thus are children educated 3into discord.

If half the attention given to hygiene were given to the 6study of Christian Science and to the spiritualization of Hygiene excessivethought, this alone would usher in the millen-nium.
A patient thoroughly booked in medi -cal theories is more difficult to heal through Mind than 21one who is not. This verifies the saying of our Master: “Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, shall in no wise enter therein.”
