The Bible
  1. I Chron. 28:1 David (to 1st ,), 2, 3, 5, 6, 9 (to ;)

    David assembled all the princes of Israel,

    ... 2Then David the king stood up upon his feet, and said, Hear me, my brethren, and my people: As for me, I had in mine heart to build an house of rest for the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and for the footstool of our God, and had made ready for the building:

    3But God said unto me, Thou shalt not build an house for my name, because thou hast been a man of war, and hast shed blood.

    ... 5And of all my sons, (for the Lord hath given me many sons,) he hath chosen Solomon my son to sit upon the throne of the kingdom of the Lord over Israel.

    6And he said unto me, Solomon thy son, he shall build my house and my courts: for I have chosen him to be my son, and I will be his father.

    9And thou, Solomon my son, know thou the God of thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the Lord searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek him, he will be found of thee;

  2. Isa. 26:3

    3Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

  3. Rom. 7:22, 25 (to ;)

    22For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:

    ... 25I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God;

  4. I Cor. 1:1-6, 8-10, 30, 31

    1Paul, called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and Sosthenes our brother,

    2Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours:

    3Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

    4I thank my God always on your behalf, for the grace of God which is given you by Jesus Christ;

    5That in every thing ye are enriched by him, in all utterance, and in all knowledge;

    6Even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you:

    ... 8Who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

    9God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.

    10Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.

    ... 30But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:

    31That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.

  5. I Cor. 2:1, 2, 4, 5, 9-14 as, 16

    1And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God.

    2For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.

    ... 4And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:

    5That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

    ... as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

    10But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.

    11For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.

    12Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.

    13Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

    14But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

    ... 16For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.

  6. Phil. 2:2-5, 12, 13

    2Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.

    3Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.

    4Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.

    5Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

    ... 12Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

    13For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures
by Mary Baker Eddy
  1. SH 205:22-3

        When we realize that there is one Mind, the divine law Redemption from selfishnessof loving our neighbor as ourselves is unfolded; 24whereas a belief in many ruling minds hinders man’s normal drift towards the one Mind, one God, and leads human thought into opposite channels 27where selfishness reigns.

        Selfishness tips the beam of human existence towards the side of error, not towards Truth. Denial of the one-30ness of Mind throws our weight into the scale, not of Spirit, God, good, but of matter.

        When we fully understand our relation to the Divine, 206 206:1we can have no other Mind but His, — no other Love, wisdom, or Truth, no other sense of Life, and no con-3sciousness of the existence of matter or error.

  2. SH 225:14-16

        The history of our country, like all history, illustrates 15the might of Mind, and shows human power to be propor-Immortal sentencestionate to its embodiment of right thinking.

  3. SH 410:25-29

    If mental prac-tice is abused or is used in any way except to 27promote right thinking and doing, the power to heal mentally will diminish, until the practitioner’s healing ability is wholly lost.

  4. SH 412:16-31

        To prevent disease or to cure it, the power of Truth, of divine Spirit, must break the dream of the material 18Insistence requisitesenses. To heal by argument, find the type of the ailment, get its name, and array your mental plea against the physical. Argue at first men-21tally, not audibly, that the patient has no disease, and conform the argument so as to destroy the evidence of disease. Mentally insist that harmony is the fact, and 24that sickness is a temporal dream. Realize the presence of health and the fact of harmonious being, until the body corresponds with the normal conditions of health 27and harmony.

        If the case is that of a young child or an infant, it needs to be met mainly through the parent’s thought, silently 30The cure of infantsor audibly on the aforesaid basis of Christian Science.

  5. SH 138:17-22, 25-2

        Jesus established in the Christian era the precedent for 18all Christianity, theology, and healing. Christians are New era in Jesusunder as direct orders now, as they were then, to be Christlike, to possess the Christ-spirit, to 21follow the Christ-example, and to heal the sick as well as the sinning. ... The Christian can prove this to-day as readily as it was proved centuries ago.

    27    Our Master said to every follower: “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature! . . . Healthful theologyHeal the sick! . . . Love thy neighbor as 30thyself!” It was this theology of Jesus which healed the sick and the sinning. It is his theology in this book and the spiritual meaning of this theology, which 139 139:1heals the sick and causes the wicked to “forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts.”

  6. SH 140:23-26 (np)

        The Jewish tribal Jehovah was a man-projected God, 24liable to wrath, repentance, and human changeableness. Anthropo-morphismThe Christian Science God is universal, eter-nal, divine Love, which changeth not and caus-27eth no evil, disease, nor death. It is indeed mournfully true that the older Scripture is reversed. In the begin-ning God created man in His, God’s, image; but mor-30tals would procreate man, and make God in their own human image. What is the god of a mortal, but a mortal magnified?

    141

    141:1    This indicates the distance between the theological and ritualistic religion of the ages and the truth preached by 3More than profession requiredJesus. More than profession is requisite for Christian demonstration. Few understand or adhere to Jesus’ divine precepts for living and 6healing. Why? Because his precepts require the disci-ple to cut off the right hand and pluck out the right eye, — that is, to set aside even the most cherished beliefs 9and practices, to leave all for Christ.

        All revelation (such is the popular thought!) must come from the schools and along the line of scholarly and eccle-12No ecclesiastical monopolysiastical descent, as kings are crowned from a royal dynasty. In healing the sick and sinning, Jesus elaborated the fact that the healing effect 15followed the understanding of the divine Principle and of the Christ-spirit which governed the corporeal Jesus. For this Principle there is no dynasty, no ecclesiastical 18monopoly. Its only crowned head is immortal sover-eignty. Its only priest is the spiritualized man. The Bible declares that all believers are made “kings and 21priests unto God.” The outsiders did not then, and do not now, understand this ruling of the Christ; there-fore they cannot demonstrate God’s healing power. 24Neither can this manifestation of Christ be com-prehended, until its divine Principle is scientifically understood.

  7. SH 28:9

        While respecting all that is good in the Church or out of it, one’s consecration to Christ is more on the ground of demonstration than of profession. In conscience, we 12cannot hold to beliefs outgrown; and by understanding more of the divine Principle of the deathless Christ, we are enabled to heal the sick and to triumph over sin.

  8. SH 473:12-3

    Jesus is the name of the man who, more than all other men, has presented Christ, the true idea of God, healing the sick and the sinning and destroy-15ing the power of death. Jesus is the human man, and Christ is the divine idea; hence the duality of Jesus the Christ.

    18    In an age of ecclesiastical despotism, Jesus introduced the teaching and practice of Christianity, affording the Jesus not Godproof of Christianity’s truth and love; but to 21reach his example and to test its unerring Sci-ence according to his rule, healing sickness, sin, and death, a better understanding of God as divine Prin-24ciple, Love, rather than personality or the man Jesus, is required.

        Jesus established what he said by demonstration, 27thus making his acts of higher importance than his Jesus not understoodwords. He proved what he taught. This is the Science of Christianity. Jesus proved 30 the Principle, which heals the sick and casts out error, to be divine. Few, however, except his students un-derstood in the least his teachings and their glorious 474 474:1proofs, — namely, that Life, Truth, and Love (the Prin-ciple of this unacknowledged Science) destroy all error, 3evil, disease, and death.

  9. SH 483:1-8, 13-19

        Then comes the question, how do drugs, hygiene, and animal magnetism heal? It may be affirmed that they 3True healing transcendentdo not heal, but only relieve suffering tempo-rarily, exchanging one disease for another. We classify disease as error, which nothing but Truth or 6Mind can heal, and this Mind must be divine, not human. Mind transcends all other power, and will ultimately su -persede all other means in healing.

        After the author’s sacred discovery, she affixed the name “Science” to Christianity, the name “error” to 15Terms adopted by the authorcorporeal sense, and the name “substance” to Mind. Science has called the world to battle over this issue and its demonstration, which 18heals the sick, destroys error, and reveals the universal harmony.

  10. SH 494:30-12

        Our Master cast out devils (evils) and healed the sick. It should be said of his followers also, that they cast fear and all evil out of themselves and others and heal the sick. 495 495:1God will heal the sick through man, whenever man is Followers of Jesusgoverned by God. Truth casts out error now 3as surely as it did nineteen centuries ago. All of Truth is not understood; hence its healing power is not fully demonstrated.

    6    If sickness is true or the idea of Truth, you cannot destroy sickness, and it would be absurd to try. Then Destruction of all evilclassify sickness and error as our Master did, 9when he spoke of the sick, “whom Satan hath bound,” and find a sovereign antidote for error in the life-giving power of Truth acting on human belief, a power 12which opens the prison doors to such as are bound, and
