The Bible
  1. Ps. 84:1-4 (to 1st .), 6, 8 (to 1st .), 9-12

1How amiable are thy tabernacles, O Lord of hosts!

2My soul longeth, yea, even fainteth for the courts of the Lord: my heart and my flesh crieth out for the living God.

3Yea, the sparrow hath found an house, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, even thine altars, O Lord of hosts, my King, and my God.

4Blessed are they that dwell in thy house: they will be still praising thee.

... 6Who passing through the valley of Baca make it a well; the rain also filleth the pools.

... 8O Lord God of hosts, hear my prayer: give ear, O God of Jacob.

... 9Behold, O God our shield, and look upon the face of thine anointed.

10For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.

11For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.

12O Lord of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee.

  2. Hos. 13:4-6 (to 2nd ;)

4Yet I am the Lord thy God from the land of Egypt, and thou shalt know no god but me: for there is no saviour beside me.

5I did know thee in the wilderness, in the land of great drought.

    6According to their pasture, so were they filled; they were filled, and their heart was exalted;

  3. Isa. 42:10-12

10Sing unto the Lord a new song, and his praise from the end of the earth, ye that go down to the sea, and all that is therein; the isles, and the inhabitants thereof.

11Let the wilderness and the cities thereof lift up their voice, the villages that Kedar doth inhabit: let the inhabitants of the rock sing, let them shout from the top of the mountains.

12Let them give glory unto the Lord, and declare his praise in the islands.

  4. Ps. 27:4

4One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in his temple.

  5. Luke 4:1 (to 1st ,)

1And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan,

  6. Luke 6:17-23, 27-35 (to :), 36-39, 41-49

    17And he came down with them, and stood in the plain, and the company of his disciples, and a great multitude of people out of all Judæa and Jerusalem, and from the sea coast of Tyre and Sidon, which came to hear him, and to be healed of their diseases;

18And they that were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed.

19And the whole multitude sought to touch him: for there went virtue out of him, and healed them all.

20And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and said, Blessed be ye poor: for yours is the kingdom of God.

21Blessed are ye that hunger now: for ye shall be filled. Blessed are ye that weep now: for ye shall laugh.

22Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man’s sake.

23Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy: for, behold, your reward is great in heaven: for in the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets.

27But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you,

28Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you.

29And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other; and him that taketh away thy cloak forbid not to take thy coat also.

30Give to every man that asketh of thee; and of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again.

31And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.

32For if ye love them which love you, what thank have ye? for sinners also love those that love them.

33And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do even the same.

34And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye? for sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much again.

35But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest:

... 36Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.

37Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:

38Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

39And he spake a parable unto them, Can the blind lead the blind? shall they not both fall into the ditch?

... 41And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but perceivest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

42Either how canst thou say to thy brother, Brother, let me pull out the mote that is in thine eye, when thou thyself beholdest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine own eye, and then shalt thou see clearly to pull out the mote that is in thy brother’s eye.

43For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.

44For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes.

45A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.

46And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?

47Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like:

48He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.

49But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.

  7. Luke 17:20, 21

20And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation:

21Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.

Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures
by Mary Baker Eddy
  1. SH 4:27-30

27    Audible prayer can never do the works of spiritual understanding, which regenerates; but silent prayer, Veritable devotionwatchfulness, and devout obedience enable 30us to follow Jesus’ example.

  2. SH 5:22-25

Prayer is not to be used as a confessional to cancel sin. Such an error would impede true religion. Sin is forgiven 24Cancellation of human sinonly as it is destroyed by Christ, — Truth and Life.

  3. SH 37:13-27

Consciousness of right-doing brings its own reward; but not amid the smoke of battle is merit seen and appreciated 15by lookers-on.

When will Jesus’ professed followers learn to emulate him in all his ways and to imitate his mighty works? 18Complete emulationThose who procured the martyrdom of that righteous man would gladly have turned his sacred career into a mutilated doctrinal platform. May 21the Christians of to-day take up the more practical im-port of that career! It is possible, — yea, it is the duty and privilege of every child, man, and woman, — to follow 24in some degree the example of the Master by the demon-stration of Truth and Life, of health and holiness. Chris-tians claim to be his followers, but do they follow him in 27the way that he commanded?

  4. SH 26:1

26:1    While we adore Jesus, and the heart overflows with gratitude for what he did for mortals, — treading alone 3Individual experiencehis loving pathway up to the throne of glory, in speechless agony exploring the way for us, — yet Jesus spares us not one individual expe-6rience, if we follow his commands faithfully; and all have the cup of sorrowful effort to drink in proportion to their demonstration of his love, till all are redeemed 9through divine Love.

  5. SH 31:12-17

12    First in the list of Christian duties, he taught his fol-lowers the healing power of Truth and Love. He attached Healing primaryno importance to dead ceremonies. It is the 15living Christ, the practical Truth, which makes Jesus “the resurrection and the life” to all who follow him in deed.

  6. SH 65:1-8

65:1    Experience should be the school of virtue, and human happiness should proceed from man’s highest nature. 3Blessing of ChristMay Christ, Truth, be present at every bridal altar to turn the water into wine and to give to human life an inspiration by which man’s spiritual and 6eternal existence may be discerned.

If the foundations of human affection are consistent with progress, they will be strong and enduring.

  7. SH 67:23, 27-28

Grace and Truth are potent beyond all other 24means and methods.

Spiritual, not corporeal, consciousness is needed.

  8. SH 167:32

Substituting good words for a good life, fair seeming 168 168:1for straightforward character, is a poor shift for the weak and worldly, who think the standard of Christian Science 3too high for them.

  9. SH 168:15

15    Because man-made systems insist that man becomes sick and useless, suffers and dies, all in consonance with The divine authoritythe laws of God, are we to believe it? Are 18we to believe an authority which denies God’s spiritual command relating to perfection, — an authority which Jesus proved to be false? He did the will of the 21Father. He healed sickness in defiance of what is called material law, but in accordance with God’s law, the law of Mind.

  10. SH 242:9, 15 In, 30-32

9    There is but one way to heaven, harmony, and Christ in divine Science shows us this way. It is to know no The one only wayother reality — to have no other conscious-12ness of life — than good, God and His reflec-tion, and to rise superior to the so-called pain and pleasure of the senses.

15In pa-tient obedience to a patient God, let us labor to dis-solve with the universal solvent of Love the adamant 18of error, — self-will, self-justification, and self-love, — which wars against spirituality and is the law of sin and death.

30    The finger-posts of divine Science show the way our Master trod, and require of Christians the proof which he gave, instead of mere profession.

  11. SH 332:9-15 Christ, 19 Jesus

9Christ is the true idea voicing good, the divine message from God to men speak-The Son of Goding to the human consciousness. The Christ 12is incorporeal, spiritual, — yea, the divine image and likeness, dispelling the illusions of the senses; the Way, the Truth, and the Life, healing the sick and 15casting out evils, destroying sin, disease, and death.

Jesus demonstrated Christ; he proved that Christ Holy Ghost or Comforteris the divine idea of God — the Holy Ghost, 21or Comforter, revealing the divine Principle, Love, and leading into all truth.

  12. SH 336:14

The spiritual man’s consciousness 15and individuality are reflections of God. They are the emanations of Him who is Life, Truth, and Love. Im-mortal man is not and never was material, but always 18spiritual and eternal.

  13. SH 553:4-6

This clearer consciousness must precede an under-6standing of the harmony of being.

  14. SH 573:5-9, 13-18 (to .), 28 (only), 31

3This testimony of Holy 6Writ sustains the fact in Science, that the heavens and earth to one human consciousness, that consciousness which God bestows, are spiritual, while to another, the 9unillumined human mind, the vision is material.

Accompanying this scientific consciousness was an-other revelation, even the declaration from heaven, su-15Nearness of Deitypreme harmony, that God, the divine Principle of harmony, is ever with men, and they are His people. Thus man was no longer regarded as a mis-18erable sinner, but as the blessed child of God. ... This is indeed a foretaste of absolute Christian Science. ... When you read this, remember Jesus’ words, “The kingdom of 574 574:1God is within you.” This spiritual consciousness is therefore a present possibility.

From the Christian Science Hymnal:
Hymn 497: “Home is the consciousness of good”
Hymn 474: “In Your house securely dwelling”
Hymn 465: “I'm living in the house of God”
