- Gen 1:3 God, 4 (to :)
- John 1:1, 3-9
3All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
4In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
5And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
6¶There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
7The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
8He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
9That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
- Ps 119:105, 130
- John 10:22
- Ps 30:0-12Psalm 30A Psalm and Song at the dedication of the house of David
1I will extol thee, O Lord; for thou hast lifted me up, and hast not made my foes to rejoice over me.
2O Lord my God, I cried unto thee, and thou hast healed me.
3O Lord, thou hast brought up my soul from the grave: thou hast kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit.
4Sing unto the Lord, O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.
5For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.
6And in my prosperity I said, I shall never be moved.
7Lord, by thy favour thou hast made my mountain to stand strong: thou didst hide thy face, and I was troubled.
8I cried to thee, O Lord; and unto the Lord I made supplication.
9What profit is there in my blood, when I go down to the pit? Shall the dust praise thee? shall it declare thy truth?
10Hear, O Lord, and have mercy upon me: Lord, be thou my helper.
11Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing: thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness;
12To the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever.
- John 10:23-30, 37-42
23And Jesus walked in the temple in Solomon's porch.
24Then came the Jews round about him, and said unto him, How long dost thou make us to doubt? If thou be the Christ, tell us plainly.
25Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father's name, they bear witness of me.
26But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you.
27My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
28And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
29My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.
37If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not.
38But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him.
39Therefore they sought again to take him: but he escaped out of their hand,
40And went away again beyond Jordan into the place where John at first baptized; and there he abode.
41And many resorted unto him, and said, John did no miracle: but all things that John spake of this man were true.
- John 8:12
- John 9:1-7
1And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth.
2And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?
3Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.
4I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.
5As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.
6When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay,
7And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing.
- Ps 27:1-4
1The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
2When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.
3Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.
4One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in his temple.
- Isa 60:1-4 (to 1st :), 19
1Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee.
2For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the Lord shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.
3And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising.

Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures
by Mary Baker Eddy:
- SH 597:3-4
- SH 135:26
Christianity as Jesus taught it was not
27a creed, nor a system of ceremonies, nor a special gift
from a ritualistic Jehovah; but it was the demonstration
of divine Love casting out error and healing the sick,
30not merely in the name of Christ, or Truth, but in demon-
stration of Truth, as must be the case in the cycles of
divine light. - SH 501:10-13
- SH 255:1-6
- SH 510:9, 27-1
- SH 504:9, 23-31
9 This
light is not from the sun nor from volcanic flames, but it
is the revelation of Truth and of spiritual ideas. This
12also shows that there is no place where God's light is not
seen, since Truth, Life, and Love fill immensity and are
ever-present. Was not this a revelation instead of a
15creation?The rays of infinite Truth, when gathered into
24the focus of ideas, bring light instantaneously, whereas
a thousand years of human doctrines, hypotheses, and
vague conjectures emit no such effulgence.27Did infinite Mind create matter, and call it light?
Spirit is light, and the contradiction of Spirit is matter,
Spirit versus
darkness darkness, and darkness obscures light. Mate-
30rial sense is nothing but a supposition of the
absence of Spirit.
- SH 503:12, 28
- SH 596:15
- SH 407:22 In
In Science, all
Immortal
memory being is eternal, spiritual, perfect, harmoni-
24ous in every action. Let the perfect model be
present in your thoughts instead of its demoralized op-
posite. This spiritualization of thought lets in the light,
27and brings the divine Mind, Life not death, into your
consciousness. - SH 209:5-14
Mind, supreme over all its formations and governing
6them all, is the central sun of its own systems of ideas,
Allness of
Truth the life and light of all its own vast creation;
and man is tributary to divine Mind. The
9material and mortal body or mind is not the man.The world would collapse without Mind, without the in-
telligence which holds the winds in its grasp. Neither
12philosophy nor skepticism can hinder the march of the
Science which reveals the supremacy of Mind. The im-
manent sense of Mind-power enhances the glory of Mind. - SH 215:12-21
12 Whatever is governed by God, is never for an
instant deprived of the light and might of intelligence
and Life.15We are sometimes led to believe that darkness is as real
as light; but Science affirms darkness to be only a mortal
Light and
darkness sense of the absence of light, at the coming of
18which darkness loses the appearance of reality.
So sin and sorrow, disease and death, are the suppositional
absence of Life, God, and flee as phantoms of error before
21truth and love. - SH xi:9
9The physical healing of Christian Science results
now, as in Jesus' time, from the operation of divine
Principle, before which sin and disease lose their real-
12ity in human consciousness and disappear as naturally
and as necessarily as darkness gives place to light and
sin to reformation. Now, as then, these mighty works
15are not supernatural, but supremely natural. They are
the sign of Immanuel, or "God with us," ” a divine
influence ever present in human consciousness and re-
18peating itself, coming now as was promised aforetime,
To preach deliverance to the captives [of sense],
And recovering of sight to the blind,
21To set at liberty them that are bruised. - SH 266:24-26, 27
- SH 418:20-32
Truth is affirmative, and confers
21harmony. All metaphysical logic is inspired by this sim-
ple rule of Truth, which governs all reality. By the
truthful arguments you employ, and especially by the
24spirit of Truth and Love which you entertain, you will
heal the sick.Include moral as well as physical belief in your efforts
27to destroy error. Cast out all manner of evil. "Preach
Morality
required the gospel to every creature." Speak the
truth to every form of error. Tumors, ulcers,
30tubercles, inflammation, pain, deformed joints, are wak-
ing dream-shadows, dark images of mortal thought, which
flee before the light of Truth. - SH 367:17
A Christian Scientist occupies the place at this period
18of which Jesus spoke to his disciples, when he said: "Ye
The salt of
the earth are the salt of the earth." "Ye are the light
of the world. A city that is set on an hill can-
21not be hid." Let us watch, work, and pray that this salt
lose not its saltness, and that this light be not hid, but
radiate and glow into noontide glory.
