Topic: No change or transition from omnipresent good

The Bible:

(1)   Mal 3:6 I am,10

6  I am the Lord, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.

10  Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

(2)   II Chron 15:1,2 (to 2nd ;),7

1  And the Spirit of God came upon Azariah the son of Oded:

2  And he went out to meet Asa, and said unto him, Hear ye me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin; The Lord is with you, while ye be with him;

7  Be ye strong therefore, and let not your hands be weak: for your work shall be rewarded.

(3)   Judg 6:1,6 (to ;),11-15,23

1  And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord: and the Lord delivered them into the hand of Midian seven years.

6  And Israel was greatly impoverished because of the Midianites;

11  ¶ And there came an angel of the Lord, and sat under an oak which was in Ophrah, that pertained unto Joash the Abiezrite: and his son Gideon threshed wheat by the winepress, to hide it from the Midianites.

12  And the angel of the Lord appeared unto him, and said unto him, The Lord is with thee, thou mighty man of valour.

13  And Gideon said unto him, Oh my Lord, if the Lord be with us, why then is all this befallen us? and where be all his miracles which our fathers told us of, saying, Did not the Lord bring us up from Egypt? but now the Lord hath forsaken us, and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites.

14  And the Lord looked upon him, and said, Go in this thy might, and thou shalt save Israel from the hand of the Midianites: have not I sent thee?

15  And he said unto him, Oh my Lord, wherewith shall I save Israel? behold, my family is poor in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father's house.

23  And the Lord said unto him, Peace be unto thee; fear not: thou shalt not die.

(4)   Judg 7:19,21

19  ¶ So Gideon, and the hundred men that were with him, came unto the outside of the camp in the beginning of the middle watch; and they had but newly set the watch: and they blew the trumpets, and brake the pitchers that were in their hands.

21  And they stood every man in his place round about the camp: and all the host ran, and cried, and fled.

(5)   Judg 8:22,23,28

22  ¶ Then the men of Israel said unto Gideon, Rule thou over us, both thou, and thy son, and thy son's son also: for thou hast delivered us from the hand of Midian.

23  And Gideon said unto them, I will not rule over you, neither shall my son rule over you: the Lord shall rule over you.

28  ¶ Thus was Midian subdued before the children of Israel, so that they lifted up their heads no more.  And the country was in quietness forty years in the days of Gideon.

(6)   II Cor 10:3-5 though

3  though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:

4  (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)

5  Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

(7)   Matt 12:10-21

10  ¶ And, behold, there was a man which had his hand withered.  And they asked him, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath days? that they might accuse him.

11  And he said unto them, What man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it fall into a pit on the sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out?

12  How much then is a man better than a sheep?  Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days.

13  Then saith he to the man, Stretch forth thine hand.  And he stretched it forth; and it was restored whole, like as the other.

14  ¶ Then the Pharisees went out, and held a council against him, how they might destroy him.

15  But when Jesus knew it, he withdrew himself from thence: and great multitudes followed him, and he healed them all;

16  And charged them that they should not make him known:

17  That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying,

18  Behold my servant, whom I have chosen; my beloved, in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my spirit upon him, and he shall shew judgment to the Gentiles.

19  He shall not strive, nor cry; neither shall any man hear his voice in the streets.

20  A bruised reed shall he not break, and smoking flax shall he not quench, till he send forth judgment unto victory.

21  And in his name shall the Gentiles trust.

(8)   Ps 102:25-27

25  Of old hast thou laid the foundation of the earth: and the heavens are the work of thy hands.

26  They shall perish, but thou shalt endure: yea, all of them shall wax old like a garment; as a vesture shalt thou change them, and they shall be changed:

27  But thou art the same, and thy years shall have no end.

(9)   Isa 30:15 thus (to :),18 therefore will the (to :),20,21

15  thus saith the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel; In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength:

18  therefore will the Lord wait, that he may be gracious unto you, and therefore will he be exalted, that he may have mercy upon you:

20  And though the Lord give you the bread of adversity, and the water of affliction, yet shall not thy teachers be removed into a corner any more, but thine eyes shall see thy teachers:

21  And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.

Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures

by Mary Baker Eddy

(1)   473:8-10

                                                                     God is every-

9    where, and nothing apart from Him is present or has

       power.

(2)   275:10-24

To grasp the reality and order of being in its Science,

you must begin by reckoning God as the divine Principle

12   of all that really is. Spirit, Life, Truth, Love,                       Divine

combine as one, — and are the Scriptural names                 synonyms

for God. All substance, intelligence, wisdom, being, im-

15   mortality, cause, and effect belong to God. These are

His attributes, the eternal manifestations of the infinite

divine Principle, Love. No wisdom is wise but His

18   wisdom; no truth is true, no love is lovely, no life is Life

but the divine; no good is, but the good God bestows.

Divine metaphysics, as revealed to spiritual understand-

21   ing, shows clearly that all is Mind, and that Mind is

God, omnipotence, omnipresence, omniscience,                  The divine

        — that is, all power, all presence, all Science.                     completeness

24   Hence all is in reality the manifestation of Mind.

(3)   287:10-15

In Science, Truth is divine, and the infinite

God can have no unlikeness. Did God, Truth,                     Divine

12   create error? No! "Doth a fountain send                              allness

forth at the same place sweet water and bitter?" God

being everywhere and all-inclusive, how can He be absent

15   or suggest the absence of omnipresence and omnipotence?

(4)   119:21

21                                    God is natural good, and is repre-

sented only by the idea of goodness; while evil should be

regarded as unnatural, because it is opposed to the nature

24   of Spirit, God.

(5)   223:8

If Spirit is all and is everywhere, what

9    and where is matter? Remember that truth                          Soul greater

is greater than error, and we cannot put the                         than body

greater into the less. Soul is Spirit, and Spirit is greater

12   than body. If Spirit were once within the body, Spirit

would be finite, and therefore could not be Spirit.

(6)   253:25

Do not believe in any supposed necessity for sin, dis-

ease, or death, knowing (as you ought to know) that God

27   never requires obedience to a so-called material law, for

no such law exists. The belief in sin and death is de-

stroyed by the law of God, which is the law of Life in-

30   stead of death, of harmony instead of discord, of Spirit

       instead of the flesh.

(7)   446:15

15                                                                Good must

dominate in the thoughts of the healer, or his demon-

stration is protracted, dangerous, and impossible in Sci-

18   ence. A wrong motive involves defeat. In the Science

of Mind-healing, it is imperative to be honest, for victory

rests on the side of immutable right. To understand

21   God strengthens hope, enthrones faith in Truth, and

verifies Jesus' word: "Lo, I am with you alway, even

unto the end of the world."

(8)   419:8-14,16-25

If your patient from any cause suffers a relapse, meet

9    the cause mentally and courageously, knowing that

there can be no reaction in Truth. Neither                            Relapse

disease itself, sin, nor fear has the power to                         unnecessary

12   cause disease or a relapse. Disease has no intelligence

with which to move itself about or to change itself from

       one form to another.

Meet every adverse circumstance as its master. Ob-

serve mind instead of body, lest aught unfit for develop-

18   ment enter thought. Think less of material conditions

       and more of spiritual.

Mind produces all action. If the action proceeds from

21   Truth, from immortal Mind, there is harmony; but mor-

tal mind is liable to any phase of belief. A                           Conquer

relapse cannot in reality occur in mortals or                         beliefs and

24   so-called mortal minds, for there is but one                         fears

       Mind, one God.

(9)   427:1-9,13-16

1        If it is true that man lives, this fact can never change

in Science to the opposite belief that man dies. Life is

3    the law of Soul, even the law of the spirit of                       Life not

Truth, and Soul is never without its represent-                    contingent

ative. Man's  individual being can no more                          on matter

6    die nor disappear in unconsciousness than can Soul, for

both are immortal. If man believes in death now, he

must disbelieve in it when learning that there is no reality

9    in death, since the truth of being is deathless.

Death is but another phase of the dream that exist-

ence can be material. Nothing can interfere with the

15   harmony of being nor end the existence of                          Mortality

       man in Science.                                                                     vanquished

(10)   222:31-8

                                                                                                    Life only

                                                          We must                            in Spirit

destroy the false belief that life and intelligence are in

1    matter, and plant ourselves upon what is pure and per-

fect. Paul said, "Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not

3    fulfil the lust of the flesh." Sooner or later we shall learn

that the fetters of man's finite capacity are forged by the

illusion that he lives in body instead of in Soul, in matter

 6    instead of in Spirit.

Matter does not express Spirit. God is infinite omni-

       present Spirit.

(11)   329:26-2 If

                                                                                         If

27   men understood their real spiritual source to be all bless-

edness, they would struggle for recourse to the spiritual

and be at peace; but the deeper the error into which mor-

30   tal mind is plunged, the more intense the opposition to

spirituality, till error yields to Truth.

Human resistance to divine Science weakens in pro-

1    portion as mortals give up error for Truth and the un-

derstanding of being supersedes mere belief.

(12)   544:10-11

Matter cannot change the eternal fact that

       man exists because God exists.

(13)   233:16

Already the shadow of His right hand rests upon the

hour. Ye who can discern the face of the sky, — the

18   sign material, — how much more should ye                        Christ's

discern the sign mental, and compass the de-                      mission

struction of sin and sickness by overcoming the thoughts

21   which produce them, and by understanding the spiritual

idea which corrects and destroys them. To reveal this

truth was our Master's mission to all mankind, including

24   the hearts which rejected him.

(14)   495:14

When the illusion of sickness or sin tempts you, cling

15   steadfastly to God and His idea. Allow nothing but His

likeness to abide in your thought. Let neither                      Steadfast and

fear nor doubt overshadow your clear sense and                 calm trust

18   calm trust, that the recognition of life harmonious — as

Life eternally is — can destroy any painful sense of, or

belief in, that which Life is not. Let Christian Science,

21   instead of corporeal sense, support your understanding of

being, and this understanding will supplant error with

Truth, replace mortality with immortality, and silence dis-

24   cord with harmony.

(15)   506:10-12

Through divine Science, Spirit, God, unites under-

standing to eternal harmony. The calm and exalted

12   thought or spiritual apprehension is at peace.                       Exalted

                                                                                                    thought
