- September 9: Chino Institutional Committee monthly meeting:
The Christian Science State Institutional Committee for the Chino area holds its monthly meeting on Thursday, September 9, 2010, at 7:30 p.m. The meeting is held at First Church, Monrovia. The meeting will have reports from chaplains in the field, and discussion of the current study topic. All those interested are most welcome at the meeting; it's a great way to find out what the institutional work is all about. - September 14: Live audio chat (every 2 weeks): Busy life?
The next regular live audio chat on spirituality.com is on Tuesday, September 14, at 11:00 a.m. Pacific Time. It will address the topic, Busy life? There's a way to make space for peaceful moments. Questions submitted by listeners during the one-hour chat will be answered by Barbara Vining, a Christian Science practitioner and teacher who has served as President of The Mother Church. - September 18: “Upon this Rock,” a Bible talk at Huntington Beach:
What is the foundation of Jesus's church? Why did the primitive Christian church grow so rapidly in the first century? This talk will look closely at these questions and help discover the relevance they have to our own church today. By the time of her passing in 1910, newspapers heralded Mary Baker Eddy as the most famous woman in America. In a series of programs running through 2010, The Mary Baker Eddy Library offers current perspectives on this extraordinary figure with performances and presentations by playwrights, film makers, biographers, health professionals, and others. A live streaming video from marybakereddylibrary.org on Thursday, September 23, at 4 p.m. Pacific Time (7 p.m. Eastern Time) will build on the pictures of Mrs Eddy’s struggles, discoveries, victories, and legacy. This is the fifth in the 2010 series of Saturday workshops at the Broadview Christian Science Nursing Facility, 4570 Griffin Ave, Los Angeles, dealing with health care issues important to Christian Scientists. This workshop, Celebration of healing, is the Broadview annual meeting, and begins at 9:30 a.m. The speaker will be Laurance Doyle, Ph.D., a Principal Investigator at the SETI Institute.
