SUNDAY SCHOOL

As with all Christian Science Sunday Schools, we accept pupils from the youngest age when they can give their attention to a class, up through the age of 19 years. We meet at 10 a.m., the same time as our Sunday church service in the adjacent building. Nursery care is provided for children too young for Sunday School.

A feature of Christian Science Sunday Schools is that students are organized in small classes, usually according to age. The classes are typically no bigger than four or five, which allows for substantial individual participation and attention to individual needs.

From the earliest age, students are taught the healing truths in the Scriptures. Fundamental to this are the Lord's Prayer, Jesus' Beatitudes and the Sermon on the Mount, and the Ten Commandments. Students are also taught the corresponding, practical spiritual message in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy, which includes the spiritual interpretation of The Lord's Prayer, and the Scientific Statement of Being.

Younger students are able to learn and love the many Bible characters, and become familiar with the nature of God, the synonyms for God (Principle, Mind, Spirit, Soul, Life, Truth, Love). Even the youngest students can learn how to make their prayers effective. The older classes are able to engage in deeper study of the Bible and Science and Health. Classes for students of high school age typically have their work based on the weekly Lesson-Sermon.
